HAVEN COMBI RETRO-CHART W/B 3rd FEBRUARY 1985
Kirsty MacColl gets a second week at the top with A New England, extending her lead with a healthy 43 point margin over the rest of the chart.
Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson move up to number two with I Know Him So Well, on their sixth week on the chart.
Both A New England and I Know Him So Well are topping two individual charts, with Kirsty MacColl's song having wider appeal, picking up points from ten charts.
Bryan Adams heads back up the chart to gain a new peak at number three with Run To You.
Big Sound Authority make their Top Ten debut with This House (Is Where You Love Stands), which moves up to number four. Also sharing fourth place is Bruce Springsteen with Dancing In The Dark, now in its fourth week at this position across two separate chart runs.
This week’s highest new entry is from The Smiths with How Soon Is Now, in at number 13. Their previous four entries on the Retro Chart all went Top Ten, including a number one in 1983 for This Charming Man. All of The Smiths Retro-Chart entries have beaten the comparative Official UK Chart peaks. How Soon Is Now continues this trend, already eclipsing the number 24 peak on the Official Chart.
