HAVEN COMBI RETRO-CHART W/B 24th FEBRUARY 1985
The race for number one went down to the wire again this week as Dead Or Alive pip Don Henley at the post to extend their run at the top to two weeks in a battle that was even closer than last week, with just five points separating the two acts.
Prince and The Revolution are up to number three with Let’s Go Crazy, providing Prince with his fourth Top 5 hit on the Retro-Chart after 1999 and his two number one’s, When Doves Cry and Purple Rain.
Let’s Go Crazy would have been this week’s number one song were it not for the sharing of points with its flip side, Take Me With U.
In the week that How Soon Is Now climbs to the top of four individual charts for Andy, Earl Purple, Smokeyb and Thorney, it dips a further place to number four on the overall chart.
Madonna achieves her highest new entry as Material Girl debuts at number five, hoping to go one better than her last single Like A Virgin, which spent a couple of weeks at number two earlier this year.
