HAVEN COMBI RETRO-CHART W/B 23rd JUNE 1985
The Retro-Chart moves in line with the Official Chart this week as Sister Sledge get their first number one with Frankie.
The battle for the top wasn’t with last week’s chart-topper, instead the biggest challenge came from Tears For Fears with Head Over Heels, with both songs topping two individual charts this week.
Frankie has been number one on rubcale’s chart for five weeks now, the second song on rubcale’s chart this year to spend this amount of time at the top. Frankie also moves to the top on whitneyfan’s chart this week too, replacing Crazy For You, and replicating the situation on the overall chart.
Head Over Heels is number one for both smokeyb and raliverpool. This is the sixth number one for Tears For Fears on smokeyb’s chart (I suspect it would have been seven if he had been posting these charts during Mad World’s release!)
We’ve not had a six week chart-topper on anyone’s charts yet this year, but there are three currently sat at five weeks. In addition to Frankie on rubcale’s chart, She Sells Sanctuary and Kayleigh have both been resident chart-toppers on Andy and Earl Purple’s charts for five weeks.
So, after all that, Madonna drops to number three after just one week at the top with Crazy For You, and Fine Young Cannibals and The Cult both enter the Top Five with Johnny Come Home and She Sells Sanctuary.
Paul Young gets this week’s highest new entry with Tomb Of Memories, in at number 19.
