Bar an unexpected new release that we don't as yet know about, I think Last Christmas is close to nailed on to grab the Xmas top spot.

Tempted to bet on Rita Ora with those odds after Clean Bandit last year with a regular release at the right time.
Also a big US hip hop record with mega streaming can come out of nowhere.

Best odds I can find now for Rita Ora is 25/1 so best have a bet before they reduce further

There are rumours she may be releasing a studio version of George Michael's Fastlove that she performed live at the Grammy's earlier in the year

If she was officially releasing a single it would be favorite.
Every year we hear this is the year an old Xmas song will get to number one. Mariah Carey, Pogues, George Michael. I will believe it when I see it.

I'll be shocked if it's an old Christmas song.
I think the X-Factor winners have had their day of getting the Xmas #1, so don't think it will be that either.
Can't see Elbow doing it either.. The John Lewis ad songs have been quite low by Xmas week in recent years.
I really hope it's not Ed Sheeran though... Maybe I'll plump for Rita Ora too.
Incidentally, if Wham do happen to get it then they'll lose the record of best selling #2 which they've held since 1984.

Now let them open a book on what will be Christmas #1 in the NM charts... of course I myself would be banned from betting.. The Christmas #1 will be whatever is #1 in my chart dated 23 December 2017.
Wham! could still claim "Everything She Wants" as the best selling #2.

This year's X Factor Final is very early, December 2nd. That means the winner's single will first impact the chart announced on Friday 8th December. If it went to number one on that date, it would have to stay there for 3 weeks in order to be Christmas Number One.

I think previously some of the X-factor winners may even have been released a bit earlier and stayed on top for a few weeks.

really really wish adele releases her gm cover, that was fantastic, it's the same version that an xf contestant did last weekend
think there's gonna be a campaign pushing Last Xmas, so that could work too

It would be nice for Wham to be number one but that record has stood for so long as the best selling no 2 single ever it would be a shame to lose that.
If Adele does release she has a good chance.
Mariah Carey cold finally get there but not xmas no 1 what with the new film coming out.
Rita Ora does have a chance and i think there is a slight outside chance for Stormzy.
I doubt any of the songs on the xmas adverts will be near either.
Ed Sheeran no way now.
X Factor winner i cant see it hanging on even if it is released earlier. The cd single was always the factor in that being number one.

Because there is a campaign to get it to number 1 as a tribute to George Michael.

With the Christmas #1 sales week being Friday 15th to Thursday 21st, good possibility of a not so Christmassy track holding the top spot before the inevitable Christmas songs explode on streaming sites. Hard to call this far away though

I got bored from the same Christmas' songs every year. When do we have the current Christmas' single in top 40 ?
