With England overhauling Scotland's net run rate in one go, the position is now a lot clearer. If England beat Namibia on Saturday and Scotland lose to Australia, England go through. Weather forecast for Saturday looks OK.

USA through to the Super 8s after their match against Ireland was a washout. The point gained means they can't be caught by Pakistan, who go out in the 1st round just 2 years after reaching the final.
Super 8s:
GROUP 1 India Australia Afghanistan Bangladesh/Netherlands/Nepal
GROUP 2 USA Scotland/England West Indies South Africa

After a shaky start, England make 122-5 from their 10 overs (reduced from 11 after a brief rain interruption).

Namibia's target has been DLS-adjusted to 126 from 10 overs to take into account the fact England started their innings as an 11-over game.

Australia chase down 181 with 2 balls to spare to beat Scotland and send them out of the competition. England go through to the Super 8s, where they'll be in a group with West Indies, South Africa and USA.

We also know the 12 automatic qualifiers for the next T20 World Cup in 2026. The make up is 2 host slots, the 8 teams in the Super 8s at this year's competition and the next 2 highest ranked teams. India and Sri Lanka are hosting, and with India in the Super 8s this year, an extra slot becomes available through the rankings. As a result, Ireland will qualify automatically (just pipping Scotland), joining New Zealand and Pakistan. The other 8 slots in the tournament will be decided through various regional qualifying competitions.

Impressive win for England to start the Super 8s, chasing down 181 with 15 balls to spare to beat West Indies by 8 wickets.
Phil Salt made an unbeaten 87, including 30 off the 16th over of the innings, which propelled England towards their target.

Scotland did well, but they didn't beat anyone above them in the world rankings, so didn't deserve to go through. No best third place team going through in this competition.

Scotland did well, but they didn't beat anyone above them in the world rankings, so didn't deserve to go through. No best third place team going through in this competition. Using that logic, neither did England. And Scotland came closer to beating Australia than England did. Thankfully England have found some form - they were excellent against the West Indies and suddenly, they look like contenders to win the whole thing again.

A narrow defeat for England against South Africa, losing by 7 runs chasing 164. They looked out of it at 61-4 but Brook and Livingstone added 78 in 7 overs for their 5th wicket partnership. Needing 14 off the last over, they couldn't get home after Brook was dismissed. Still, a narrow loss doesn't do massive damage to the run rate, which looks like being a factor again if England win their final game against the USA.

An easy win for the West Indies over the USA takes them ahead of England on net run rate. However, England's position looks a lot clearer today, as given how close their net run rate is compared to South Africa's, a win for England over USA should be enough to move them ahead of South Africa in the table (unless it's a close game) and guarantee their semi-final place as (if I've understand the maths correctly) it wouldn't be possible for them to be overtaken by both South Africa and the West Indies.

USA all out for 115 against England. Sensational end to the innings with England taking 5 wickets in 6 balls, including 4 for Chris Jordan, who finished the innings with a hat-trick. England will look to chase down their target fairly quickly to confirm their place in the semis.
Worth mentioning it's all to play for in the other group after Afghanistan beat Australia last night, despite Pat Cummins taking a hat-trick for the second game in a row.

Absolutely clinical from England, chasing down their total in just 9.4 overs to win by 10 wickets and claim their place in the semi-finals, regardless of what happens in the South Africa-West Indies game tonight.

South Africa beat the West Indies last night to join England in the semis. South Africa top the group and will play the runners-up in the other group, while England will play the winners of the other group.
India playing Australia this afternoon in a game that will go a long way in determining who plays who. If India win though, it opens the door right up for Afghanistan to leapfrog the Aussies.

India beat Australia by 24 runs and are through to the semi-finals to face England. Huge chance for Afghanistan now as they will be through if they beat Bangladesh tonight.

Afghanistan reach the semi-finals after winning a low-scoring, rain-affected thriller against Bangladesh. After only making 115 from their 20 overs, it looked like Afghanistan had blown their chance. That actually gave Bangladesh an outside chance of qualifying as long as they reached their target inside 12.1 overs. Rain meant their target was revised to 114 off 19 overs but Afghanistan's bowlers came good, bowling Bangladesh out for 105 with 7 balls remaining to seal an 8 run win. The result means Australia are eliminated and David Warner has confirmed his retirement from international cricket. Super 8 tables: GROUP 1 1. India 6 (+2.017) 2. Afghanistan 4 (-0.305) ------------------------------ 3. Australia 2 (-0.331) 4. Bangladesh 0 (-1.709) GROUP 2 1. South Africa 6 (+0.599) 2. England 4 (+1.992) ------------------------------ 3. West Indies 2 (+0.963) 4. USA 0 (-3.906) Semi-finals: South Africa v Afghanistan (Wednesday, Trinidad) India v England (Thursday, Guyana)
