37. Deaf Havana - Saviour Big tune from this alternative rock band from Norfolk, it was a #2 hit in my chart, I had no idea they would be this big when I saw them in 2011 not long after releasing their debut album, they had just released "Leeches" from their upcoming second album, fast-forward almost a decade later their last two albums All These Countless Nights and Rituals have peaked at #5 and #8 respectively, they are now one of the biggest Alt Rock bands in the UK

34. Jimmy Eat World - All the Way (Stay) The Arizona rock band are still going strong after 10 albums, probably best known for their string of top 40 hits in the 00's such as The Middle, Sweetness, Pain and Always Be aswel as their breakthrough hit Bleed American. In 2019 they were back with a new album and some great singles, All the Way (Stay) spent 1 week at the top of my chart

31. Feeder - Fear of Flying What a year for Feeder, 2019 saw feeder release their 10th studio album Tallulah, amazingly the record charted at #4 in the uk making it the bands 2nd most successful album after 2005's Pushing the Senses and Fear of Flying topped my chart for 1 week and this wasn't even the best track on the record, amazing stuff

30. RHEA - Baby I'm Sorry Finding these guys in 2019 was a real treat, they are a Belgian 5 piece that sound a bit like Royal Blood if Royal Blood were a 5 piece, Baby Im Sorry' spent 20 weeks on highest rotation on Studio Brussel and the band supported Wolfmother and Royal Blood on recent tours and was a #2 hit in my chart back in May.

28. Mystery Jets - Screwdriver This one is from their upcoming 7th album! who would've thought they would still be around making top quality music 15 years later when a disabled 19 year old kid Blaine Harrison started a band with his dad! but they just get better and better. Blaine says “Screwdriver is about the mechanics of intolerance. Looking back at times of economic instability in history, we see how easily deep chasms grow in society and the population seeks change wherever it is most convincingly promised. Conflict arises as cultures and belief systems clash, unwilling to accept one another’s place in society, because we are fed the rhetoric that our neighbours are those responsible for our problems then inevitably nationalism once more raises its ugly head above the parapet. But whereas political agendas fuel divisiveness, music unites and reminds us of all that we have in common. The message of Screwdriver is not a pessimistic one - because perhaps faced with confrontation we can find understanding, and even maybe learn how to listen to, and love one another.”

27. Swimming Girls - 1 2 Many Bristol-based indie babes, and firm DIY faves, Swimming Girls have announced via Twitter that after four years of working together they've decided to split to “follow new creative ideas” but not before they released one of the best synth-pop songs of 2019, I hope 2020 see's members of the band carry on in a new direction

22. Green Day - Father of All... Lead single from their upcoming 13th album Father of All Motherfuckers. Lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong has stated the song is about "making people feel bad." Armstrong added "Rock and roll sometimes has become so tame because a lot of rock acts are always trying to look for the feel-good song of the year or something." A departure in sound for the band, the song has been described as garage rock revival containing dirty guitars, grooving bass, and rolling drums, as well as filtered and falsetto vocals

21. Sam Fender - The Borders Another chart hit, my top 40 is more commercial than usual this year with this one peaking at #59 in the UK and it was a huge #2 hit for me, it was the last single to be released from Hypersonic Missiles which shows just how strong his debut album was.

20. Ghost - Faith Faith by Swedish band Ghost spent 4 weeks in my top 10 peaking at #2 in February, it was a low key single released on 20th December 2018 so missed my 2018 countdown, Ghost are hard to describe but they span genres from doom metal to 60's psychedelic rock, Faith is one of their more metal songs from 2018 prog rock album Prequelle, but being Swedish everything they do has the pop sensibilities of Abba. Imagine 1972 album Demons and Wizards by Uriah Heep, turn the theatrics upto 11 and you have Ghost.

19. Badflower - Heroin Firstly the video is NSFW, lots of grinding ha, brilliant song though, they are an American rock band founded in Los Angeles that brought back a post grunge sound with emo lyrics and it works well, they give me my My Chemical Romance fix until they get round to making a new album

18. The Sherlocks - NYC (Sing It Loud) This Sheffield band consists of two sets of brothers: Kiaran and Brandon Crook, Andy and Josh Davidson. The name derived from Kiaran working at the Sherlock Holmes museum in early 2009. NYC (Sing It Loud) became their 8th top 10 hit in my chart which is impressive for a band that has only released 2 albums so far Live for the Moment (2017) No. 6 UK and Under Your Sky (2019) No. 20 UK and was a #2 hit in my chart.
Heart of Gold #28 Will You Be There? #11 Was It Really Worth It? #11 Chasing Shadows #3 Live For The Moment #8 Blue #7 I've Gotta Be Me #1 NYC (Sing It Loud) #2 Magic Man #3 Waiting #3 Under Your Sky #6
