Diana Ross posted a link on her social media about Lionel (Richie) wanting to undertake a new version of We Are The World for the Coronavirus pandemic.

Wasn't the original bad enough?

Have to agree, the song is dire.

For the original We Are The World the singers had to all go to a studio to join. But now they'll all have to record their parts at home.
I just looked it up and Quincy Jones is still alive - 87 years old.

Oh great, a song so saccharine & nauseatingly bad, the Spitting Image parody was actually better (not least as it contained Prince & Madonna):

I love 'We are the world', but it would be good if people could write new charity songs rather than just keep covering the old ones.

But on second thoughts ....
....... hell, I'd rather listen to Gary Barlow's daily Crooner Sessions with different surprise guests (Ronan Keating; Rick Astley; Alfie Boe; Beverly Knight; Tom Chaplin; Jack Savoretti; etc), than listen to that sanctimonious record by Bono & Will.i.am again..

That one he did for NetAid with Wyclef was even worse.
