I'm not a fan of this decade in music and don't have any interest in compiling 60s charts, because it's mostly like "give # 1 for fresh Petula Clark single again and again".
My impossible dream is creating weekly retrospective charts from 1970 to 2012 years. My all-time # 1 song was recorded in 2012, that's why it's cool to finish them on the highest note.

But interestingly, Paul Anka who at 16 had a massive self-written number one in 1957 and was therefore just 23 in 1964, and Neil Sedaka who was 2 years older and had written a number one hit for Connie Francis and had a string of his own hits, and was therefore 25 in 1964, both disappeared pretty much for the rest of the decade, but re-emerged in the 1970s, now in their 30s, to have a new lease of life.

Sedaka and Anka were very old fashioned though, even Del Shannon, Ricky Nelson, Mark Wynter etc, even though they would've all been in their early to mid 20s themselves it was a very old style of music, one guy, no guitar, singing pop songs along the lines of "my little girl is true to me" and "I love it when my baby holds my hand" kinda songs which I think fell out of fashion in the middle of the swinging sixties, not just as music but as a society things maybe shifted and these artists weren't popular anymore but a few came back with a revival, even Elvis dropped his surname and had to re-invent himself for the teens

I see you're not keen on Don't Talk To Him - one of my personl fav Cliff records. I enjoyed Don't Talk To Him, but the quality of songs Cliff is competing with has just kept getting better and better, a top 5 of Andy Williams - It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year Dusty Springfield - I Only Want To Be With You The Kingsmen - Louie Louie The Dave Clark Five - Glad All Over The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand Is pretty strong plus classics by Freddie & The Dreamers, The Beach Boys, Betty Everett and Gene Pitney in the top 10, I'm struggling to find a top 10 place for loads of songs which is a great problem to have
