Wasn't sure where to put this but it seems the right place here. If not then please feel free to move.
Anyone know this band? They were from Slough, just been reading something from 1989 and they got a mention as they sent a demo tape in to the local paper which was considered to be poor quality. The review said that one of the three tracks was very influenced by The Cure's Robert Smith, so much so that they should move away from that going forward. They were just starting to line up local gigs.
A few years later they released some singles, one of which made the top 40, which I only found out through Gezza's thread making me explore 1992 further (which I'll come back to at some point). Find it amazing to discover that a band from the area where I grew up had a hit and I had no idea, or had even heard of the band, until the last couple of years. Isn't the internet wonderful?

I think they were actually from Iver even though Wiki says Slough. I saw them many times back in the '90s and enjoyed their guitar-heavy sound. They had a habit of releasing EPs with no title track and then putting a song with that title on the next EP.
On one occasion when I saw them they were supported by a band called The Jennifers. After that band split up (so they could do their GCSEs!), two of them formed another band - called Supergrass.

Have also been told that they have now reformed, released an album this year pre lockdown. The drummer's name rings a bell, must have come across it somewhere (he also played rugby).

Yes, they released The Panglossian Momentum this year although it was during lockdown (May). I think they did some live dates before lockdown.

How old would they have been in their 90s heyday? I'm guessing in their 20s?

I don't think I ever knew how old they were. I would imagine that your guess of early 20s is about right. They certainly didn't strike me as being unusually young (like The Jennifers) or old (like Pulp) at the time.

I briefly worked with one of them back in 2007, he was still playing in a band whose name I have forgotten (something like The New Republic). Can't remember how old he was but would guess born circa 1968. I used to do gig reviews for the employer magazine and he made a point of praising them (not on his band I hasten to add). Which was nice.

Now got them on Facebook and spookily the notification I got was for the lead singer turning 50 on Thursday! Been told by the sister of the bass player that the others are either late 40s or 50.
