I'm just assuming my top NEVER song on last.fm is Never Again by Kelly Clarkson.
I also love Never Ever by All Saints and Never Let You Down by Honeyz.

'Never tear us apart' is pretty unbeatable whatever the first word of the song, but I also like off the top of my head;
Never Stop - Brand New Heavies
Never Knew Love Like This Before - Stephanie Mills
Never Knew Love Like This - Alexander O'Neal & Cherrelle
Never Leave You - Tinchy Stryder

21. DO :: 117 songs
The second highest placed verb.
Massively spoilt for choice this morning. Easily the best word that's come up so far.
My first thought was:- Do I Do - Stevie Wonder
Alphabetically, my list starts with:- Do Anything You Want To - Thin Lizzy
Also given serious thought:- Do It Again - Steely Dan Do Or Die - Human League Do You Know The Way To San Jose - Dionne Warwick / Frankie Goes To Hollywood Do You Remember The First Time ? - Pulp Do You Wanna Dance - Beach Boys / Cliff Richard Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful - Paloma Faith
But I have gone for two well known songs which have never been chart hits in the UK:-
Do You Believe In Magic - Lovin' Spoonful [check out the video FX on this clip] Do The Strand - Roxy Music

Ok, can't resist the urge (like I did with Come) to "cheat" one in. Not the English word "Do" but a part of the scale of notes, sometimes spelt Doh, but they spell it as Do on the label so that's what it is.Have a good time, all of the time..

Ok, if there's ever a my chart equivalent of "highest ever first week sales", perhaps the most overplayed song on its first week, this is it... from 2000 There are 2 versions, one which is a duet featuring Fran Healy of Travis and that's the version I normally listen to (it's the album version and was on one of the CD singles released). There were problems clearing it with Independiente and this should have been a massive hit, but peaked at #63 in the UK chart. This is the only Clint Boon Experience song that has a proper video, and the version here is only Clint Boon singing.
Title is "Do What You Do (The Earworm Song)"

One of those songs where the title is totally unrelated to anything they're singing in the lyrics, but nevertheless that's the title this lot gave this song. #1 in my chart in 2013. Do All Dogs Go To Heaven by Bombskare
The perfect spin bike exercise. My routine is in a comment in the video. I used to do a lot of home exercise when listening to music.

From 2012, Dutch singer (or maybe they're a band) Marty Graveyard got to #1 in my my chart with Do You Really Wanna Dance?
would have been a better choice for my Time Machine entry for 2012 than Olly Murs perhaps. It isn't one of my Repechage entries though and doubt anyone else will have entered it either.

One of those obscure number ones from my chart, not on Spotify and only on youtube because someone called Corrinne Garstang, who claims it was written for her, has posted it up there.
Free French - Do You Come Here Often?

A clear case of Troggs Syndrome in my chart, or I call it a "consolation number one" single when they get a number one but not with their best song. Clearly "Everybody Knows (I'm Still In Love With You)" should have been #1 in my chart but that doesn't begin with "Do" anyway. However their only number one does begin with that word.
Do you remember this? Not that well actually. But it's quite nice and was around to replace the Christmas #1 whilst Eminem was making an extremely slow climb up my chart to take over.
Yearning - Do You Remember

21. DO :: 117 songsDo You Wanna Dance - Beach Boys / Cliff Richard I don't know of a Beach Boys version, I have a 1958 version by Bobby Freeman, reached #8 in my chart, but is titled "Do You Want To Dance" (but is the same song).

If I had to pick just one...
The best absolute top-down outright-yelling driving song. It was a long-overdue and deserved substantial hit for Eddie & The Hot Rods, leading lights of the pub rock movement, but utterly wrecked by the BMRB being completely all over the place with tits run, constantly interrupting momentum and killing its peak sales.
To wit. A chart run of 39-29-19-24-11-20-9 and then down.

Dirty Dancing made this popular in the 1980's…

If I had to pick just one... It seems you're not restricted to one choice. Earl Purple has decided to start spamming the thread with a video of every song he can think of with the word "do" in it.

I didn't know we were restricted. I posted a few because they were all more obscure ones (apart from Carter USM, which was a top 30 hit from a #1 album) that others were less likely to pick, and as the count of the words goes up there will be far more songs.
