Gateshead have been kicked out of the National League playoffs because they don't have a 10-year tenure on their (absolutely sh*te) ground, as per EFL regulations. They will not be replaced in the playoffs and Solihull Moors have been given a bye to the semi-finals (despite finishing lower than Altrincham, who still have to face Halifax).

Aldershot should be bumped into the playoffs imo, personally what’s the point of Gateshead being in that league if they can’t be promoted?

The National League have now released a statement confirming Altrincham will receive the bye and Solihull will play Halifax in the playoffs eliminator.

I guess they've been talking to the council for a while to try and come to an agreement and haven't been able to do so. Going forward though, it seems rather pointless. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the players end up at South Shields next season.

Somehow Man U win even after trying their best to lose after throwing away a 3 goal lead.

I only really agree with the last pen decision, first was too soft and little contact and the handballs have been given in the past but maybe not now, whereas the 3rd the ref says he got the ball and Var can see he didn’t so they should ask him to look at the monitor himself. They didn’t! So incompetent or cheats, which is it, whichever, anyone else would lose their job over it!

Leicester promoted. Doesn't that save them from the FL's financial fair play rules, and put them back under the jurisdiction of the toothless (or couldn't care less) FA Premier League ?

Oh I thought they broke the PL rules and so if they get promoted they'll start with a points deduction, but I might be wrong. How's it going with Man City and their rule breaking, still waiting for the outcome on that? I did read they wont be deducted points, and yet other teams have been, they'd be outrage if that happens. Then again they scrapped replays in the FA Cup without an actual vote on it, and that shows how the entire FL is run by 8-10 teams!

Man City can afford far more expensive lawyers than the PL, so the PL will find a way to absolve Man City of any wrong doing at all, and just hope everything goes away. Of course, many of the other really wealthy foreign-owned clubs are cheating in exactly the same ways, so they won't object to Man City not getting any sort of penalty.

It's a shame when sport comes down to who can bend the rules the best and get away with it

There will be a brand new team in the football league next season. Either Bromley or Solihull Moors will reach League Two for the first time; they'll contest the playoff final on May 5th.

Ipswich are promoted alongside Leicester to the Premier League. Well done to them. I hope Leeds get up through the playoffs but all 4 of the teams in the playoffs aren't exactly in prime form. Leeds, Sourthampton and West Brom have each lost 3 of their last 6 games and while Norwich have only lost 1 of their last 6, they have drawn 3 of those 6 games.

Lower down the pyramid, I noticed the new Bury FC failed to be promoted out of the north western premier division after losing in the playoffs to Wythenshawe Town, the team that went up automatically from that league was, err, Wythenshawe. Both formed in 1946 as well. A football success for the town! As for the Championship, I'm expecting a Norwich Southampton final!
