I know Portugal won the first one because that's when England reached the final four and ended up 3rd. I think France and Spain are the other winners though I can't say that with any confidence.

Stags beat Harrogate 9-2 to equal their biggest ever win since 1932, and I thought we might lose as Harrogate had lost one in 11 coming into the game. Totally stunned!

Came on here to say that - stunning scoreline indeed! I don't think I've heard of a game finishing 9-2 before (although I'm sure it'll have happened at some point)

One of the first matches I ever went to was Southampton 8-2 Coventry. The previous season, the same fixture had finished 5-5.
Although I've seen Southampton concede 7 goals on two occasions, I didn't go to either of the more recent matches when they let in 9.

Highest scoring Football league game since 2011, and the first time a team has scored nine in a Football League game since Peterborough beat Barnet 9-1 in Division Three in 1998. According to the BBC. I enjoyed watching the highlights on LiveScore this morning, all very good well worked goals with great finishing. And Boateng to get a hattrick after previously scoring 3 goals in 40 games! Onto the next as Walsall away will be tricky and still got to go to Wrexham, MK Dons, Barrow, Newport, Tranmere, and Bradford. There aren't any easy games in this league, and we only have a 5 point safety cushion. We are doing all this with three crucial players out with long term injuries, alongside 4 others with shorter length injuries. Absolutely incredible.

Fortunately Arsenal don't concede that many so often - I was at Reading festival during the 8-2 Vs United and remember them announcing the score between bands. Highest scoring in recent memory was the 7-5 win over reading (from 4-0 down) in the league cup. The worst I've witnessed in person was 0-4 in Milan. The most I've seen us score is 7: 7-1 Vs Blackburn and a WSL match where we beat Villa 7-0. That Blackburn game is a tie for personal highest scoring match attended, with a 5-3 classic against Middlesbrough in 2004.

I've seen a 10-0 in a preseason friendly before. The biggest win I've seen for Marske in person in a competitive game was 8-0. Seen a few 7s as well including a 7-3.

The qualifying draw was made today for the Women's Euro 2025, with England aiming to retain the title they won in 2022. Two things to note first: 1. The format - rather than having normal seeded groups with the winners qualifying and runners-up going into playoffs etc, the competition follows a format similar to the Nations League, split into A, B and C. Only teams from League A can qualify directly via their group, with Leagues B and C playing for playoff spots. There are 4 League A groups with the top 2 qualifying and the other 2 in each group going into the playoffs. In League B, the top 3 in each group qualify for the playoffs (or best 4th placed team if hosts Switzerland finish in the top 3). In League C, the 5 group winners and 3 best runners-up qualify for the playoffs. Once we get to the playoffs, the 8 League A teams will face the 8 League C teams while the 12 League B teams will face each other. The 14 winners of those ties will move into the final playoff round to determine the final 7 qualifiers. 2. The seedings - these were based on the most recent Nations League, rather than world rankings. That means England were in pot 2, despite being defending champions and World Cup runners-up, while Sweden, who reached the semis of both tournaments and are ranked 5th in the world, were in pot 3. 51 of UEFA's 55 members are taking part. Russia are still banned. Gibraltar and Liechtenstein are fairly new to women's football and haven't entered the competition. San Marino doesn't have a women's team. GROUP A1 Netherlands Italy Norway Finland GROUP A2 Spain Belgium Denmark Czech Republic GROUP A3 France England Sweden Ireland GROUP A4 Germany Austria Iceland Poland GROUP B1 Switzerland Hungary Turkey Azerbaijan GROUP B2 Scotland Serbia Slovakia Israel GROUP B3 Portugal Bosnia & Herzegovina Northern Ireland Malta GROUP B4 Wales Croatia Ukraine Kosovo GROUP C1 Belarus Lithuania Cyprus Georgia GROUP C2 Slovenia Latvia North Macedonia Moldova GROUP C3 Greece Montenegro Andorra Faroe Islands GROUP C4 Romania Bulgaria Kazakhstan Armenia GROUP C5 Albania Estonia Luxembourg

Champions League draw has been made!
Here it is (with the clubs' current Opta power rankings in brackets)
Top half:
Atletico Madrid (13) v Borussia Dortmund (10) Paris St-Germain (6) v Barcelona (9)
Bottom half: Arsenal (5) v Bayern Munich (7) Real Madrid (3) v Manchester City (1)
So the bottom half looks pretty stacked!

Who needs the prem when you have the championship. Top 3 have 1 point between them. Ipswich beat Sheffield wednesday 6-0 at the weekend.

Congratulations to Chesterfield on their return to the Football League. They've been impressive all season, and bounced back well from their penalty shoot-out defeat in the Play-Off Final last season.

I'm delighted for o, to see Mansfield promoted. After years of frustration, it is good to see them rising again. Also, vindication to whoever it was who decided to persevere with Nigel Clough as manager after the team went through a really bad patch quite early in his spell as boss. Well done to Stockport and Wrexham too. It is good to see that clubs that fall on bad times, and drop down the leagues, are able to turn things around, and prosper again. Sometimes it takes a bit of money aligned with really passionate supporters (Wrexham), and sometimes it just takes some sharp talent spotting on the managerial front (Stockport).

In other football news, it is a real downer to see Pompey also getting promoted. Horrid ground, really unpleasant supporters.

I had a bet on Lincoln to reach the playoffs was set to win £450 if they did, and then they drew at Reading and lost at home to Wigan whilst Oxford won both their games by big margins, so I gave up and cashed in the bet for a bit less than I had paid for it.
Then tonight they go and win at Oxford so if I'd just waited I could have cashed it in tomorrow for a bit more than I did.
And if they do get into the playoffs...

Cheers Shireblogger, absolutely incredible to have finally done it again after 21 years, god I was 33 when I last experienced this! It's a lifetime ago. Really pleased for Stockport as they were down in National North at one point, and Wrexham who were relegated out of the FL with us some years ago. Just a shame the media focus is all on Wrexham, when Stockport will be champions and Nigel Clough won League 2 Manager of the Season. I just hope we can keep the runners up spot over the next two games, but it doesn't really matter.

Younger supporters will be suffering from vertigo next season. Games against at least some of Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham, Stoke, Bolton, Barnsley and Blackpool - all ex-Premier Division relatively recently.

We were in the Premier League more recently than Sheffield Wednesday (relegated in 2000) and Barnsley (relegated in 1998)
I'm sure they'll only enjoy playing against Charlton if they beat us. Hopefully we'll be a force next season.

Charlton and Leyton Orient are two of the grounds I'd like to do while watching the Stags. Think we played Charlton in the FA Cup fairly recently, drew at home, tonked away at the Valley?
