Pool A: ITALY 52-8 NAMIBIA An easy win for Italy to get their tournament up and running but much tougher tests are to come. Namibia's World Cup record is now 0-23 (if you discount the "drawn" game against Canada 4 years ago which was cancelled due to the typhoon). Pool B: IRELAND 82-8 ROMANIA The world no.1s also start in convincing fashion, scoring 12 tries against Romania. Pool C: AUSTRALIA 35-15 GEORGIA Australia pick up their first win of Eddie Jones' second spell in charge, though Georgia showed some resiliance in the second half and could be capable of causing Wales and Fiji problems. Pool D: ENGLAND 27-10 ARGENTINA England going a man down after just 2 minutes was probably the least surprising thing to happen at this World Cup so far. What was surprising was the way England adapted, changed gameplan and ended up controlling the game with 14 men after George Ford's 3 drop goals in 9 minutes saw them build a lead. Argentina's discipline deserted them as Ford's boot scored all 27 points for England, who once again produce a big performance on the big stage.

England were great, but I thought the red card was harsh for what was just a genuine clash, whereas the Argie hitting our guy in the head with his hip deliberately is only a yellow, yeah right!

Have seen the Carreras incident now as well as the explanation by the ex-referee ITV have on their coverage and it makes very little sense.

A very similar incident in the Japan v Chile game this afternoon. This time not upgraded to red. Probably the right decision as there was no way he could get out of the way in time but it suggests a lack of consistency.

And another one in the game this afternoon, tackle with a clash of heads deemed just a yellow. The chile one the commentators said it was going to be upgraded, and it wasn't. Like you say no consistency, I've enjoyed watching the games, dont know a lot about what's going on, but they've been cracking fun!

Pool B: SOUTH AFRICA 18-3 SCOTLAND Scotland matched the world champions in the first half but two quick tries at the start of the second half meant the Springboks start with a win. Pool C: WALES 32-26 FIJI Wales win a thriller against Fiji, holding on at the end when Fiji scored two late tries and looked to have another right at the death but Semi Radradra knocked on in sight of the line. Pool D: JAPAN 42-12 CHILE Another game where the favourites pulled clear in the second half but Chile gave a good account of themselves on their World Cup debut and even scored an early try to take the lead. Tables: POOL A 1. Italy 1-5 (+44) 2. France 1-4 (+14) --------------------- 3. Uruguay 0-0 (0) 4. New Zealand 1-0 (-14) 5. Namibia 1-0 (-44) POOL B 1. Ireland 1-5 (+74) 2. South Africa 1-4 (+15) ---------------------- 3. Tonga 0-0 (0) 4. Scotland 1-0 (-15) 5. Romania 1-0 (-74) POOL C 1. Australia 1-5 (+20) 2. Wales 1-5 (+6) ----------------------- 3. Fiji 1-2 (+6) 4. Portugal 0-0 (0) 5. Georgia 1-0 (-20) POOL D 1. Japan 1-5 (+30) 2. England 1-4 (+17) ----------------------- 3. Samoa 0-0 (0) 4. Argentina 1-0 (-17) 5. Chile 1-0 (-30)

Pool A: FRANCE 27-12 URUGUAY Table: 1. France 2-8 (+29) 2. Italy 1-5 (+44) -------------------- 3. New Zealand 1-0 (-14) 4. Uruguay 1-0 (-15) 5. Namibia 1-0 (-44) A second win for France but they were given a huge scare by a magnificent Uruguay team, who scored 2 tries and pulled to within 1 point with 25 minutes to go. France didn't manage to open a lead of more than 8 points until the final 10 minutes of the game and weren't able to score the 4th try that would've earned them a bonus point.

Uruguay gave a good account of themselves! And they had a try disallowed and should a shoulder/elbow to the head be a yellow, or a red, oh it was just a yellow of course!

Pool A: NEW ZEALAND 71-3 NAMIBIA Table: 1. France 2-8 (+29) 2. New Zealand 2-5 (+54) --------------------- 3. Italy 1-5 (+44) 4. Uruguay 1-0 (-15) 5. Namibia 2-0 (-112) An easy win for the All Blacks in which they scored 11 tries but also had Ethan de Groot sent off late in the game.

Pool B: IRELAND 56-19 TONGA SOUTH AFRICA 76-0 ROMANIA Straightforward wins for the two pool favourites to set up a clash next weekend that will almost certainly determine who finishes top. Johnny Sexton became Ireland's all-time leading points scorer, surpassing Ronan O'Gara's record. Pool C: WALES 28-8 PORTUGAL AUSTRALIA 15-22 FIJI Fiji stun the 2-time world champions to leave the Wallabies on the verge of a humiliating pool stage exit. The Aussies will probably need to beat Wales next weekend to stand a chance of progressing, given Fiji's last two games are against Georgia and Portugal. Wales secured an unconvincing win over a Portugal side who were better than many were anticipating in their first World Cup appearance since 2007. Pool D: SAMOA 43-10 CHILE ENGLAND 34-12 JAPAN England were made to work by Japan but once Courtney Lawes had scored England's second try in fortuitous circumstances, the outcome was never in doubt and they were able to secure the bonus point at the death. Samoa got their campaign underway yesterday with a comfortable win over Chile. Tables: POOL B 1. Ireland 2-10 (+117) 2. South Africa 2-9 (+91) --------------------- 3. Scotland 1-0 (-15) 4. Tonga 1-0 (-43) 5. Romania 2-0 (-150) POOL C 1. Wales 2-10 (+26) 2. Fiji 2-6 (+1) --------------------- 3. Australia 2-6 (+13) 4. Georgia 1-0 (-20) 5. Portugal 1-0 (-20) POOL D 1. England 2-9 (+39) 2. Samoa 1-5 (+33) --------------------- 3. Japan 2-5 (+8) 4. Argentina 1-0 (-17) 5. Chile 2-0 (-63) Tie-breakers: 1. Head-to-head 2. Points difference 3. Try difference 4. Points scored 5. Tries scored 6. World ranking

I start to worry about Wales. Australia will be very angry after a sensational defeat from Fiji.

Pool A: ITALY 38-17 URUGUAY FRANCE 96-0 NAMIBIA Table: 1. France 3-13 (+125) 2. Italy 2-10 (+65) ---------------------- 3. New Zealand 2-5 (+54) 4. Uruguay 2-0 (-36) 5. Namibia 3-0 (-208) France crush Namibia to make it 3 wins out of 3 but lost captain Antoine Dupont to a suspected broken jaw that could jeopardise his participation in the rest of the tournament. It was France's biggest ever margin of victory. Italy produced a dominant second half display to beat Uruguay, having trailed 17-7 at half time after being temporarily reduced to 13 men.

It would seem only tier 1 matches count towards "official" records so I had to do a bit of searching but I found one that beats the highest score: Hong Kong 164-13 Singapore (1994)
