As the PDC World Championship is coming up, and I like many others look forward to "Dartsmas" to keep me entertained in many evening and a few afternoon sessions I thought it would be a good idea to get an all thing Darts thread opened.

The top 32 of the Order of Merit will qualify to join in Round 2 (They are drawn in a Seeded format. I.E Potentially Round 3 (Final 32) Seed 1 will play seed 32; and Seed 16 could potentially play Seed 17). They will be joined by the top 32 not yet qualified players of the Pro Tour OoM; and 32 International Qualifiers who play each other in the first round.

I will be watching this, Luke Humphries is flying at the moment, he would be my tip I totally agree. He is on hot form having won the last 3 TV tournaments (including his first two Majors). He is as hot as when Rob Cross was before he won his only World Championship victory; and probably in better form than (last year's winner) Michael Smith just prior to the World Championships last year.
Current Odds:
Luke Humphries 10/3 Fav
Michael van Gerwen 7/2 Gerwyn Price 5/1 Michael Smith 10/1 Gary Anderson 14/1 Rob Cross 16/1 Peter Wright 18/1 Josh Rock 28/1 Nathan Aspinall 33/1 Stephen Bunting 40/1 Jonny Clayton 50/1 Dave Chisnall 50/1 James Wade 50/1
66/1 Bar.

Surprised Michael Smith's odds are low, given the run of form he's having at the moment.
I've been impressed with watching Gian van Veen recently. Hope he has a decent run in the Worlds.

It is worth mentioning ..... The 2023 WDF World Darts Championship (officially referred to as the 2023 CT1 Lakeside World Darts Championship for sponsorship reasons), was the second edition of the WDF World Darts Championship organised by the World Darts Federation (WDF) (after the demise of the British Darts Organization (BDO)).
The tournament was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, England.
Neil Duff and Beau Greaves were defending the senior titles.
Duff lost 3–4 to Chris Landman in the quarter-final, and Greaves successfully retained her title, defeating Aileen de Graaf 4–1 in sets in the final, losing just one set throughout the tournament.
It is worth mentioning Beau Greaves won the 2023 PDC Woman's Tour Order Of Merit, but choose to participate in the WDF championship, instead of the imminent PDC World Championship. Her calculated gamble of losing £10K (for a losing 1st round place) was vindicated as she took home the £25K winners cheque & a second consecutive trophy (she needed to reach the Final to equal the guaranteed minimum prize money of the PDC) in a field minus her two nearest rivals (World #2 Fallon Sherrock & World #3 Mikuru Suzuki) who have taken up their qualification invite to the PDC World Championships.
Andy Baetens became the first Belgian darts player to win the men's tournament, as he defeated Chris Landman 6–1 in sets in the final. The winner & losing finalists picked up £50K & 20K respectively. They averaged 93.7 & 86.5 in the final with just 7 180s between them over 26 legs of darts.
For a comparison to last months PDC Players Championship Final where Luke Humphries defeated Michael Van Gerwen 11-9 (to win his third TV title of the year in a row), across 20 legs they averaged 100.8 & 103.2, and hit 15 180s.

I hope Beau Greaves eventually makes the switch to the PDC as she has the talent to be at least a top 32 player. She was agonisingly close at the Grand Slam to topping a group containing some very good players.

The WDF championship was tucked away on YouTube somewhere, such is the extent interest in it has waned. Although it's not the original world championship, the PDC version is regarded almost unanimously now as THE world championship and it starts on Friday.

Tonight's matches:
Friday December 15 (1900 GMT) 3x First Round, 1x Second Round
Kevin Doets v Stowe Buntz (R1) Cameron Menzies v Rusty-Jake Rodriguez (R1) Simon Whitlock v Paolo Nebrida (R1) Michael Smith v Doets/Buntz (R2)
I can't help but wonder if American Stowe Buntz, might cause the defending World Champion Michael Smith to get knocked out in the first night, for the first time since 2009 when Canadian John Part was KO'd by American qualifier Bill Davis.

One last thing of interest:
The above link contains the Live PDC World Rankings, i.e. it excludes the money won from the PDC World Championships from 2 years ago (which will get replaced by what they win in this year's tournament, so as a result the 2022 PDC World Champion Peter Wright loses £500K, and falls in the live rankings from 4th to 7th, etc).
