The annual 2024 PDC Qualifying Schools begin in Milton Keynes and Kalkar today, with Day One of the First Stage. Over 850 players will compete at Qualifying Schools from January 8-14, with 31 Tour Cards on offer for players to secure a two year spot on the PDC circuit for 2024/25. UK Qualifying School is being held at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, while Wunderland in Kalkar is playing host to European Qualifying School, with both events split into First Stage and Final Stage. First Stage, being held from January 8-10, will see up to a total of 128 players in the UK and Europe respectively qualifying to (Phase 2 to) compete in Final Stage. Eight players per day will progress from First Stage, with all further places going to players from a First Stage Order of Merit in each region, with one ranking point awarded per match from the first full round onwards.
All the PDC card holders who lost their card as after two years they were outside the Top 64 in the World Rankings automatically qualify for the (Phase 2) Final Stage.
On Day 1:
First 8 players through from UK Q School to phase 2 - Llew Bevan, Harry Lane, Mike Warburton, Adam Hunt, Kieron Bridgwater, Danny Lauby, Matthew Dennant and Patrik Lynskey
First 8 Germany Q School qualifiers to the final stage - Arno Merk, Filip Sebesta, Anton Ostlund, Stefan Bellmont, Stefaan Henderyck, Matthias Ehlers, Felix Schiertz, Vitezslav Sedlak.

Great to see Fallon move on to the next stage. Hopefully this is the year she finally gets her card. No surprise to see Andy Baetens progressing after the way he strolled to the WDF title last month.

Day 3 of 4 saw Leighton Bennett the 18-year-old wonderkid pick up a PDC Tour Card on Saturday in the UK; whilst Belgium's Andy Baetens has secured a PDC Tour Card at the European Q-School .
Day 4 of 4 saw Dutchman Jeffrey de Graaf win the last PDC Tour Card at the European Q-School after a thrilling finale. De Graaf, needed a daily victory on Sunday to grab a Tour Card and that's exactly what he did. He started the Day on 0 Points having failed to reach the Final 32 of any of the previous days. Dom Taylor took the overall victory in the final tournament of the UK Q-School 2024 - having last year missed out by just two spots. As for the remainder of the card winners ....

Sadly, Fallon Sherrock was unsuccessful scoring just one point. The lowest UK qualifier scored 5 points. However, she was slightly unlucky with her draws/opponents as she had the 18th highest average on the UK Q school.
But a penny for the thoughts of former top pro Darren Webster .... not only did he miss the cut by just one place. He missed out by just one leg difference. Prior to the final day, Webster had scored five points with a leg balance of +14. On the final day, Webster won his preliminary round match 6-4 over Michael Flynn. But because it was a preliminary round match, the 55-year-old darter from Norwich did not receive an extra point for this. Then Webster lost 6-2 to Ted Evetts at the last 64. As a result, his leg balance thus went down four legs to +12. Therefore had Webster not competed in Sunday's final tournament, he would have won a Tour Card!

I saw that reported earlier about Darren Webster. Surely the PDC would have something in its rules about walkovers being recorded as a 6-0 loss (for the losing player at least).
