Three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen beat teenager Luke Littler 8-6 to win the Dutch Darts Masters. Both players exchanged early breaks before a run of holds meant the game was level at 6-6 in a best-of-15 tie.
Van Gerwen then held, before taking out 85 to win his home World Series event for the first time.
Littler outscored Van Gerwen to average 106.71 compared to 100.59, but the Dutchman's checkout percentage of 66.7 left his opponent with very few opportunities.

Premier League - Night 1 01/02/2024 Cardiff
QF:
Wright P. 3 v 6 Cross R.Price G. 6 v 4 Aspinall N. van Gerwen M. 5 v 6 Smith M.Littler L. 6 v 2 Humphries L.
SF:
Cross R. 2 v 6 Price G.Smith M. 6 v 5 Littler L.
Final:
Price G. 2 v 6 Smith M.
A great start to the Premier League for former World Champion Michael Smith; but the night was ruined by those whistlers in the crowd who were clearly supporting Luke Littler. I felt really sorry for "Cool Hand Luke" when they whistled at three key moments in the match; so it felt like karma when Michael Smith overcame the teenage sensation in the Semi Final; before defeating the Welshman in the final in his own backyard.

The victory was only Bunting's fourth in 26 matches against Van Gerwen and despite earning the first break of the match to go 5-3 up, he was made to work for it.
The St Helens man hit tops to wrap it up and secure the £65,000 prize money and the trophy.

Tony Green: Darts commentator & Bullseye co-host dies aged 85
Former darts commentator Tony Green, also known for his role on television show Bullseye, has died aged 85.
Bullseye creator Andrew Wood announced the news on Monday, saying Green "passed away peacefully today after a long battle with Alzheimer's".
Green was a BBC commentator at the BDO World Championships from 1978 to 2016.
He was also more widely known for being the scorer and announcer on long-running quiz show Bullseye, hosted by Jim Bowen on ITV between 1981 and 1995.
And a super tribute today from the darting GOAT Phil Taylor:
"We’ve lost a lovely man who was part of the fabric of darts," said Phil Taylor. "He accompanied me to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year bash in London once - in the year I beat Eric Bristow in the final - and I was amazed how many people seemed to know him on the red carpet. Everybody wanted his autograph or to shake his hand, and I said to him, ‘Crikey, bud - I’m the world champion but you’re the most popular man here.’"
