Over the xmas and New Year period, I will be revealing various lists of our favourite songs and artists. Does anyone want to predict their top song and artists for the year and the overall combined retro number one and artist for the year? Does anyone want any specific list for additional information? If I can ask everyone if they can post next weeks chart as soon as possible so I can start crunching the final numbers that would help me a lot. o Earl Purple raliverpool Whitneyfan smokeyb Shireblogger popchartfreak darkstar79 Mark rubcale & Smurfie.

It was an exceptionally good year, but no single artist dominated my chart. I suspect Sweet might come out top, but we'll see.

This year gave us one of my favourite songs of all time. So "Across 110th Street" will be my top song by miles.

118,603 points were awarded in total for 1973. We have kept our 11 regular contributors to the chart, which is much appreciated.
These points were spread across 643 songs.
Of these songs, 22 made it to the top of the chart, 10 of these for the first time.

Tweedle Dee wasn't a UK #1, Long Haired Lover From Liverpool was at the end of the 1972. The original version of Tweedle Dee was by LaVern Baker in 1954 and was my Time Machine entry, and it only scored 49 points.
