Jade, Air Supply weren't that succesful, only had 3 Top 75 hits; the highest reached #11, which was 'All Out Of Love' in 1980...
Shadows had 11 #1s...

yeah, psb should go SOMEWHERE... but do we want them to go in bands or in groups? YOU DECIDE!

they are, anna, but i don't really want to consider a band that has only released one album because they don't really fit with the whole "greatest bands ever" thing... i mean they might be eventually, but this time last year they weren't half as popular as they are now. i mean, i left my favourite band EVER, elbow, off the list for the same reason - they're a great band imo but they haven't been releasing records for THAT long and will never be as popular as the coldplays and radioheads of our day, or in the past. sorry but i DO agree that they are popular considering their shortness of life so far, and for that reason they will be considered if slots open up... Whatever you want. Not really the same as Elbow though, to be fair

ok... - added dandy's suggestions, except psb who i'm still not sure about... they could probably go in pop, as we have loads here... - added b-52s, air supply and the shadows, but i wasn't convinced by mission... so we are now up to 86 tell me what you think... *edit* i removed the darkness because they've only had one album as well what we need to do is have a sort of mini face-off between these one-album bands and pick the best one or two... hell is for heroes could be nommed for that, too acdc adam & the ants air supply ash b-52s beach boys beatles beautiful south belle and sebastian ben folds five bluetones blur bon jovi the charlatans the clash coldplay crowded house cult the cure deacon blue depeche mode dire straits duran duran echo & the bunnymen eels elo feeder foo fighters gomez guns n' roses human league idlewild inspiral carpets inxs iron maiden the jam joy division the kinks led zeppelin madness manic street preachers mansun massive attack muse new order nirvana oasis placebo pink floyd the pixies pogues the police the prodigy pulp queen queens of the stone age radiohead the ramones red hot chili peppers rem rolling stones simple minds the sex pistols the shadows slade the small faces smashing pumpkins the smiths status quo stereophonics the stone roses suede super furry animals supergrass talking heads tom petty & the heartbreakers travis t-rex u2 ub40 the verve the wedding present the white stripes the who wonder stuff

Whatever you want. Not really the same as Elbow though, to be fair indeed at least people have heard of franz and snow patrol... but they're still too young as groups to really place themselves up there with the greats...

I would suggest immediate culling of:
Super Furry Animals (I LOVE them but they're not really popular or influential enough) Air Supply definitely aren't popular enough - pretty much a one hit wonder! Ben Folds Five Bluetones Gomez Inspiral Carpets (If we're gonna have a "baggy" scene band, it should be Happy Mondays or Primal Scream) Eels Mansun QOTSA Wedding Present Wonder Stuff (well, I have to choose one of mine I guess!)
For most, they're just simply nowhere near popular enough.

noooo we MUST keep it short... if we can't get it below 70, that's ok... but that's the target for now...

Why have the Inspirals been chucked out? It's not like they've had one hit and that's it...

I would suggest immediate culling of: Wedding Present Why though? They've had loads of hits (including 17 Top 40...) and are pretty successful...

Why have the Inspirals been chucked out? It's not like they've had one hit and that's it... They're certainly not one of the top 64 bands of all time in terms of popularity and success. Are we doing this out of real popularity or just popularity on here as that would make a difference.
