OK so my countdown begins here, it's not based on whats done well on my chart as some of the stuff that did i now find dire and some stuff which didn't i now find superb. All songs have been released in '05 or will be released in the next 2 weeks This is the 3rd year that I've done a end of year and so far only American artists have came out on top. But this could be the year and non-American artist comes out on top. However, they provide 2 of the top 5 which is more than any other country ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/999290/images/Kwn0BjsNURZTBPjgpQCU.gif) There are 72 different acts on here and nine of the songs were a UK number one 7 songs that didn't quite make it: ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/999290/images/xKFbNBMdczwHHIvwbxXw.gif) Oasis - Let There Be Love Kasabian - Cutt Off Hard Fi - Cash Machine Missy Elliott ft Fat Man Scoop - Lose Control Stereophonics - Devil Chemical Brothers - Believe Robbie Williams - Tripping

Probably only 1 of those in my top 100.

Quite a varied range here with some of the years finest rock, indie, RnB, rap and pop. Alkaline Trio, John Legend, The Bravery and Guillemots all get their first of two new entries. We also have the only song that isn't sung in English in Sigur Sos' Hoppipolla. 98 of the others are in English and one doesn't have any vocals.
070 John Legend / Kanye West - Number One 069 The Bravery - Unconditional 068 Queens of the Stone Age - Little Sister 067 Alkaline Trio - Mercy Me 066 Sigur Ros - Hoppipolla 065 Goldfrapp - Number One 064 Guillemots - Trains To Brazil 063 We Are Scientists - The Great Escape 062 McFly - All About You 061 Kano - Typical Me

ooh, I need to reply to this. Most of them have been in my chart too, though I haven't spotted any NM #1s yet.
My chart of the year has been based on points since 1999 so the #1 single on points isn't always the real #1 of the year. In every year so far a UK act has had #1 of the year on points although in 2002 the real #1 of the year was "Sell Out" by US ska-band Reel Big Fish. Although I haven't compiled the chart of 2005 I am pretty certain that the #1 of the year will be by a band neither from the UK nor the USA nor even Canada.

I do wish that bands, particularly rock ones, would not release 7" only singles. And particularly those bands who do not have a major following. Why do they think that doing this is so cool? Some of those who have been buying their singles don't have turntables nor do we intend to go and get them. I don't want to listen to my music on a turntable, I want to listen on my computer and in my car and on a portable device when I finally get one. And I don't want their poor-quality legal download either. Not until I can download .wav files anyway.
