90 Y Kant Tori Read - Y Kant Tori Read1988, did not make top 40 Top 3 tracks: Fire on the Side, On the Boundary, Etienne If you fancy checking it out you can get it on amazon for £300 which as good as it is, it's probably not worth that much. Beating two of her regular albums, this buried treasure is fascinating for Tori fans - it's a great 80s pop album and shows her talent for what was yet to come.

The Kooks already Top 100? I'm afraid I'm not that familiar with Mercury Rev and Pink Floyd, although I LOVED "Goddess On A Hiway" - is that on that Mercury Rev album?

89 Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club1994, #8 Top 3 tracks: Run Baby Run, We Do what we can, All I Wanna Do This album got me really excited on its release as I thought this was a major female talent launched - but subsequent releases have lacked the freshness and been more 'standard'. Still this is a very confident and high quality debut - and great lyrical observations throughout.

The Kooks already Top 100? I'm afraid I'm not that familiar with Mercury Rev and Pink Floyd, although I LOVED "Goddess On A Hiway" - is that on that Mercury Rev album? There's another album from this year in the top 100 and MUCH higher! As for already top 100 - I really think it's a great album 'She Moves in Her own Way' was my song of the summer. 'Goddess on a Hiway' is on Deserters songs.

88 Garbage - Beautiful Garbage2001, #6 Top 3 tracks: Cherry Lips, A Cup of Coffee, Silence is Golden Just a great pop album with IMO less of the 'trying too hard to be cool' factor which put me off their version 2 album. This sadly was far less successful commerically, despite having great varied songs throughout.

^Thanks Homes. If that "other" album is the Guillemots debut btw then you shall be exalted. ;D

87 Alanis Morisette - Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie1998,#3 Top 3 tracks: Joining U, U R, That I would be good Maybe on occasion, this album is too much self help, improve your lifeness for my liking but it's largely a fascinating work throughout with the repetitive structure of many of the songs working well in lodging it in the brain. And there is a sense of urgency about many of the tracks.

86 David Bowie - Heroes#3, 1977 Top tracks: Heroes, The Secret Life of Arabia, Beauty and the Beast The second of the so called Berlin trilogy where Bowie was at his most experimental and drug addled, this repeats Low (which will feature later)'s template of 5 or so great rock songs and then an avant garde instrumental half. The title track of this album is rightly lauded as being one of the finest rock songs ever.

85 U2 - Pop1997, #1 Top 3 tracks: Please, If God would send his Angels, Wake Up Dead Man This is the only U2 album to feature in my top 100 and it is the one that they probably overreached themselves - it's relative failures meant they went straight back to stadium rock ever since. The dance noodlings are fascinating enough but what does it for me is the real bitterness and hopelesness throughout many of the songs. The 'Wake Up Dead Man' is particularly uncomforatble listening.

You know what... I've never heard a Pink Floyd album. I know you like them and I am always tempted to at least get 'Dark Side Of The Moon' but never actually do. The choices so far are nearly all great - the Garbage and Kooks albums wouldn't stand a chance with me but the others are all very solid choices.

84 The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free2004,#1 Top 3 tracks: Blinded by the Lights, Empty Cans, Could Well Be In A very personal album by Mike Skinner - it is surprisingly moving and thought provoking throughout as he tells of losing money and his relationship problems.

You know what... I've never heard a Pink Floyd album. I know you like them and I am always tempted to at least get 'Dark Side Of The Moon' but never actually do. Actually DSOTM is one of the few albums that doesn't feature - it's one of the most overrated albums in history. I would seriously reckon their greatest hits compilation 'Echoes' - it's over 2 hours long and very comprehensive introduction to them.

83 Jeff Buckely - Grace 1994, did not make top 40 Top 3 tracks: Corpus Christi Carol, Grace, Hallelujah To be honest, it took me ages to get used to this guy's voice and I was very sceptical as I knew that there was so much hype around him. But after a few listens I realised how much of a special listen it was - remarkably intense.

82 Radiohead - Hail to the Thief2003, #1 Top 3 tracks: Myxamatosis, 2+2=5, Where I End and You Begin This album unlike its predecessors didn't set me on fire the first time I heard it but in a way that was their plan. They were a bit fed up of the overhype they have had. And it's an astonishingly good record on further listens with far more of a shelf life than I originally thought. The quality lies in the individual songs for which there are many here.

81 Ed Harcourt - Here be Monsters2001, did not make top 40 top 3 tracks: Apple of My Eye, Beneath My Heart of Darkness, God Protect your Soul This is an album I picked up based on word of mouth and it is a quintissentially English singer song writer album. It's not life changing but it's honest, melodic and a very pleasant listen that you dig out on Sunday afternoons.

80 Bjork - Homogenic1997, #4 Top tracks: Pluto, Bachelorette, Joga Love the Chinese style cover, so typically Bjork! Let's just say if this album didn't have such a week middle section IMO this album would probably be top 40.

79 Air - Moon Safari1998,#6 Top tracks: La Femme d'Argent, Kelly Watch the Stars, Sexy Boy An album that I defy anyone not to like - it's produced many great moments in my life, mainly chilling with friends and having it as background music. But also works as great shimmery solo listening too.

77 Blur - Parklife1994, #1 Top tracks: This is A Low, End of the Century, Girls and Boys Despite the title track being one of my worst songs ever, this album is a great intelligent pop album with great hooks throughout.

76 Travis - Good Feeling1997,#9 Top 3 tracks: More than Us, Tied to the 90s, All I Want to Do is Rock Aww, I met Travis on a TV show once and they were so so sweet. And this album is such a warm hearted fine debut - and 'More than This' has to be one of the most soaring love songs I have heard. This album makes me feel all huggy, touchy feely!
