75 Muse - Absolution2003, #1 Top 3 tracks: Blackout, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Hysteria When they used to be good - there is a sense of genuiness about this album that keeps the mood epic without being so ridiculous as their latest monstrosity.

74 Fiona Apple - Tidal 1996, did not make UK top 40 Top tracks: Never is a Promise, Shadowboxer, Carrion What a fantastic album by a teenage talent. Her later albums might have developed her songwriting skills but this is still a very special record with 'Never is a Promise' being one of the most tear jerking ballads I've ever heard.

73 The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses1989.#19 Top tracks: I Am the Resurrection, Waterfalls, Made of Stone I'm not really a MAdchester fan in the slightest but their are some albums that have become so 'generational' that you can't ignore them. This album brings back many memories and largely happy ones too.

72 Kate Bush - Hounds of Love1985, #1 Top 3 tracks: Hello Earth, Hounds of Love, Running up that Hill Although this an undisputedly fine album and confirms the artistic creativity of Kate as one of the most important UK females ever, I've never loved this albums as much as her others. Don't hit me or something.

71 PJ Harvey - Rid of Me1993, #3 Top tracks: Dry, Rid of Me, 50ft Queenie This has to be one of the best album covers ever - what a striking pose! And it is bonkers and quite violent in places - think Annie Wilkes in Misery, but it can never be called boring. Such is the world of our Peej!

Homes dearest, can we have recap lists? So far it's pretty much faultless as expected - I've never heard the Travis debut but suspect I wouldn't want to if I'm honest! 'Heroes' is a great choice for Bowie album, although it's probably only about 6th to 8th in my rankings for him ( ), it's still marvellous.

There's two Bowie albums to follow - still haven't got round to listening to them all.

Homes dearest, can we have recap lists? So far it's pretty much faultless as expected - I've never heard the Travis debut but suspect I wouldn't want to if I'm honest! It's much more youthful (unsurprisingly) and more exuberant than their more Coldplayey type follow ups. It's not live changing again but it's got its charm. Have you not heard 'More than Us'?

BOLD indicates I also have the album. BOLD AND RED indicates it's a special favourite.

I was shocked to see 'Hounds Of Love' relatively low down your list, I'm fairly confident it would be top 40 for me - although not my favourite Kate album either.
'Under The Pink' is one of my favourite Tori albums. I know from previous chats that you consider it to be somewhat of a re-write of 'Little Earthquakes' - I wonder if I consider it the opposite due to Pink being my first Tori album and thus seeming much more original than Earthquakes to me.
The Bjork and Air albums are modern day classics and both totally deserving of a place in anyone's list. As are the REM, Joy Division and Massive Attack ones - all three would be higher for me.
I'm particularly pleasantly surprised to see the Ed Harcourt album feature as didn't expect many to own it. I bought it after seeing him support Beth Orton live a few years back, was much better than I anticiapted it to be. There's a wonderful Britishness about his writing that I just don't feel from many other singer songwriter types.

I own the following so far: 100 Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head 97 REM - Automatic for the People 96 Massive Attack – Mezzanine 93 The Kooks - Inside In Inside Out 88 Garbage - Beautiful Garbage 87 Alanis Morisette - Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie 84 The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free 77 Blur – Parklife 75 Muse – Absolution 73 The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses Muse and Stone Roses are far too low IMO. Otherwise however, an excellent list so far, can't wait to see what your favourite album of all-time is.

Oh and I almost forgot! Is the Y Can't Tori Read album actually good then? I assumed it would be dreadful and have never investigated into anything from it - although at that price tag, I don't think I will be doing!

70 Bjork - Medulla2003, #8 Top 3 tracks: Mouth's Cradle, Vokuro, Ancestors Instruments are so over Bjork decried with this release and she gave a fairly convincing case as to why this was so. Very experimental album.

69 Coldplay - Parachutes2000, #1 Top 3 tracks: Shiver, Everything's not Lost, Yellow They actually sound older on this album than their subesequent releases. And the two top 10ers aside it is fairly not commercial. Very moving album .

68 Massive Attack - 100th Window2003, #1 Top 3 tracks: Antistar, Special Cases, Future Proof A very harshly criticised album at the time and then there was this fake child abuse allegations laid on Del Naja which completely overshadowed how wonderful and sparse this album is.

67 Faithless - Reverence1996, #26 Top tracks: Reverence, Drifting Away, Don't Leave Shocked at how low this peaked - this is a classic dance album even though I'm not a huge dance fan. Such variety and style throughout - always a fascinating listen. Never got any of their follow ups - am I wrong?

66 Madonna - Ray of Light1998,#1 Top 3 tracks: Ray of Light, Drowned World, Skin I'm not a Madonna fan but do like this album which is probably the poppiest thing in my top 100. Just amazing songs that give you a rush and even though in light of her recent spiritual doodah the lyrics are a bit fake, it's still has to be her most advanced album.
