will be counted down from tomorrow but will get all the pre-amble out of the way down. It was easy enough to come up with what should be in the top 100 but less easy to decide on the positions and several heart breaking decisions had to be made - several albums which I had in my mind as definite top 10 were later due to the compettion ranked much lower with some barely breaking the top 20. This rundown does not claim to be a judge of quality of all albums ever released - in fact there are huge gaps in my music knowledge (nothing from The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Led Zepplin etc). On the other hand several artists have more than one entry in the top 100 with the following acts having 3 or more: Tori Amos Fiona Apple Bjork David Bowie Kate Bush Coldplay PJ Harvey Massive Attack Nirvana Pink Floyd Radiohead On the other hand there are some acts that I absolutely love the singles of but do not feature at all due to me not owning any of their non GH albums (I decided not to include GH albums for reasons of consistency). These include: Abba Pet shop Boys St Etienne Robbie Williams The Beatles as well as many others. Oh and Dandy 24 of my top 100 made your top 100 last time with a further 11 being in your 101-200 position.

Ooooo... I am most intrigued as to what will make the cut and especially interested as to what will make the top 10 (or top 30 by the sounds of it!)
I may even be tempted to purchase some if I've not heard them...

Ooh, looking forward to this I wish I could compile a top 100 at some point... but I always feel I ought to own this that or the other before I even attempt to compile a list, so god knows if that idea will ever get off the ground! I'm surprised Nirvana feature heavily in your countdown. I wasn't aware you were a fan.

Homes, are you slumped in a gutter somewhere yet again? Homes is too p*ssed up to continue with his chart for the time being, he has promised to complete it before 2010 though.

Hmmph I did say I'd start it today.... patience is a virtue - well mind you I do have a track record on here for not finishing things. Don't worry I'll start rock and rolling with it very soon.

100 Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Hand2002, UK highest chart position #1 Top 3 tracks: Amsterdam, Politik, In my Place Lowest placing of the three Coldplay albums in my top 100, this was the album that really catapulted them to one of the biggest acts in the world with some cracking songs - yet the Messianic allegations surrounding Chris Martin began.

Top way to start the chart. My favourite moment on the album is definately "The Scientist"..

99 Polly Jean Harvey/John Parrish - Dance Hall at Louse Point1996, did not make top 40 Top 3 tracks: Taut, Rope Bridge Crossing, Is That All There Is An extremely bonkers and dark album from PJ Harvey, she teams up with multi-instrumentalist Parrish to make an unpredictable mixture of scaryness, pain and dirginess. An album for occasional hearings maybe but it always surprises with something new on each listen.

98 Kate Bush - Aerial2005, #3 Top 3 tracks: A Coral Room, Sunset, King of the Mountain Worth a 13 year wait? Well no but it was good to have her back and although not her best album, it was still a breath of fresh air. And A Coral Room has to be one of the most beautiful songs she has ever written.

97 Automatic for the People REM1992, #1 Top 3 tracks: Drive, Sweetness Follows, Nightswimming Maybe a case of 'everyone's loving it so why should I too?' has put this lower in my top 100 then it deserves this is a damn fine album that is moving and inspiring throughout.

96 Massive Attack - Mezzanine1998, #1 Top 3 tracks: Risingson, Angel, Black Milk I must be the only person in the world who thinks the song 'Teardrop' is overrated. Fortunately, the rest of the album is amazing, dark and brooding. And I love the scorpion on the cover!

95 Joy Division - Closer1980,#6 Top 3 tracks: Isolation, Heart and Soul, Atrocity Exhibition I first heard this album when I was on the tube in London on the way to meeting friends in a pub!! Let's just say I was in another world for the first half hour whilst meeting them - an album of such intensity it can be uncomfortable but rewarding listen.

Automatic For The People and Mezzanine are both classics and deserving of a place in anyone's Top 100.

94 Innocence - Belief1990, #24 Top 3 tracks: Natural Thing, Remember the Day, Silent Voice Do not let the absolutely atrocious cover art put you off, this is a beautiful British soul/chillout record from a band I wish had continued longer.

93 The Kooks - Inside In Inside Out2006,#1 Top 3 tracks: She Moves in Her own Way, Seaside, Oooh La La I remember buying this album on the same day as Muse's new one - this was by far the superior one. From a band so young they certainly have a great knack for memorable song writing. Whether they can follow it up remains to be seen though.

92 Mercury Rev - All is Dream2001, #11 Top 3 tracks: The Dark is Rising, Lincoln's Eyes, Chains This has more darker hint to it then their Deserters songs album breakthrough (which might just feature higher up ) but the first 8 or songs or so are breathtaking, atmospheric classics. It does rather end with a whimper with the last 3 tracks being below par. Meh, but overall a great album.

91 Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother1970 ,#1 Top 3 tracks: If, Atom Heart Mother, Summer 68 Aka the one with the cow's arse this comprises of a 23 minute art rock epic title track and four shorter tracks. Very much representative of pink Floyd's output at the time it shows both great creativity and humanity throughout with the Rudyard Kiplingesque If being extremely moving.
