Good job Manic. BSS has never been a particular favourite of mine (awaits Manic pointing out I put it at #3 or something! ) and would rather Oasis had beaten it. Would rather A-Ha or Pulp had won overall.

Oh that's not so bad then, I'd probably still rank it about there. It's one of those songs that I'd never turn off if it came on the radio but never choose to play of my own accord.

BSS is way overrated. The Drugs Don't Work was much better.
All of the top 3 reached #1 with their next singles.

The search doesn't always work. But Holiday came up for me just now in a search: it came in at #245.

so here are the ten number ones that kept them out:
10. Fugees - Killing Me Softly 9. Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart 8. Mark Morrison - Return Of The Mack 7. R Kelly - I Believe I Can Fly 6. Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind 5. Aqua - Barbie Girl 4. Robson & Jerome - Unchained Melody / White Cliffs Of Dover 3. Jennifer Rush - The Power Of Love 2. Robson & Jerome - I Believe / Up On The Roof 1. Puff Daddy ft Faith Evans - I'll Be Missing You
Apart from Bonnie Tyler and Jennifer Rush, not much of a collection in my opinion.

Pet Shop Boys and Fugees are classics. The only good two though, the rest are awful.

Pet Shop Boys and Fugees are classics. The only good two though, the rest are awful. No they weren't, two awful cover versions, although I don't care that the Fugees kept out Born Slippy but it shouldn't have kept 3 Lions to only 2 weeks at #1. On the other hand, Bonnie Tyler's song was pure brilliance, much better than the one it kept out.
