And now the big numbers, yep the Top 10, and first a song that slides 5 places, #10 Dawn Penn (You Don't Love Me, No, No, No)
I hated this song, so Dom's comments below seem spot on to me!
Yes, Yes, Yes. The woman who can't sing is finally going down the charts.

And here's another of this week's non-movers, #9 Aswad
This was a real feel good summer song, and was another song to enter outside the Top 20, a sign of the strength of the chart perhaps? Anyway it still gets the occasional play on my local station Invicta FM.

And at #8 we welcome Gun into the Top 10 with their cover of Word Up.
Its their biggest ever hit, their cover of Cameo's classic dance song from 1986. And there are more new entries to come.
Despite not being really my kind of thing at the time I did quite like this, though that probably says more about the quality of the original than any quality on Gun's part.
Here's Dom's comments Gun get their biggest hit to date with a cover version of the old Cameo song from 1986 (despite ITV Chart Show claiming it to be 1984!) when it reached No.3. This single was released due to the overwhelming reception it got when played at their live concerts. Their biggest hits before this have been 'Better Days' in July 89, and 'Shame On You' in July 90, both of which reached No.33.

Next at #7 its a song that doesn't move... Reel 2 Real
I liked this song, and preferred it to I Like...It brings back good memories as after school I used to play squash with various other people from school. This song reminds me of the minibus journey to the squash courts on a late Friday afternoon with Capital FM on the radio (I used to live in Berkshire) and David Jensen's show with his chart "predictions". As I've since found out since that the Pepsi Chart used the MRIB chart which used sales from Friday-Thursday (combined with airplay of course though the Top 10 was official) it was probably more than just "predictions". It did remarkably accurate to the chart that was read out on a Sunday!
Here's Dom's comments The only song in the charts with 'move' in the title, is one of the ones that is a non-mover. Let's hope this one does move next week. Downwards.

And falling 2 places next its Big Mountain, #6
I liked this intially but by this stage I was just plain sick of it.
Here's Dom's comments
The second horrendous cover of the Peter Frampton classic finally begins to get moving the way I love. The lead needs singing lessons.

Let Loose - Crazy For You is a tune.. ! Deserved #1 rather than that overplayed sh*te from Wet Wet Wet. At the time I remember loving Ace Of Base, 2 Cowboys, Reel 2 Real, and Big Mountain.

I remember Ray Cokes on MTV Europe in 1989-90. This was the period when MTV played music and Ray Cokes, Paul King and Pip Dan were VJ's sat on a stool (top half of body shot on camera) with computer generated images in the background. God I bet that Pip Dan was dirty! I seem to remember Ray for being highly eccentric, fun and doing stuff like; (pretending to) fall of his stool, talking b*ll*x some/most of the time, putting his head/face right upto camera, etc etc. Paul King was the antidote to this, steady with what seemed to be lots of musical knowledge. Pip Dan; sultry, dirty b*tch often with white revealing blouses - although I was a bit too young at the time. Ray Cokes did leave to do other media stuff, and then I seem to remember him going back to MTV Networks to present on the new VH1. I've seen trailers with him in over the past 2-3 years though - so he must still do bits for them. He's done a show on Virgin Radio as well about 6-7 years ago. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_MTV_VJswww.raycokes.com/Please don't forget the brilliant Lisa I'Anson and of course, Simone Angel :-) Who even had a great song called Let This Feeling!!!

Let Loose - Crazy For You is a tune.. ! Deserved #1 rather than that overplayed sh*te from Wet Wet Wet. At the time I remember loving Ace Of Base, 2 Cowboys, Reel 2 Real, and Big Mountain. Completely agree with the comment about Let Loose, any joy at it getting as high as #2 was completely overshadowed at the sheer frustration of the Wets still being No 1 Here's the Top 5 And it's a new entry next #5 the BC52s I think it's a future No 1 That comment by Goodybags was shared by me as well as I loved it instantly and was convinced it was bound for the top Dom's comments The B-52's rename themselves for a one-off single to promote the new Steven Spielberg film due out in the UK on July 22nd, and has already been the latest film in the US to gross more than the last one...until the next one. It's no more than the TV theme tune with added cartoon sound effects, and clips from the film and the film's stars messing around. From clips I have seen of the film, it is no more than an exact copy of the cartoon with prehistoric animals standing in for everyday household items. Is there a plot at all? As for the actors chosen to stand in for the cartoons, John Goodman and Elizabeth Perkins look like good choices for Fred and Wilma Flintstone, and Rick Moranis is possibly the best choice for Barney Rubble, but the film-makers must have forgotten Betty Rubble's original slim looks when they chose the comparitively-overweight Rosie O'Donnell for her part. Sharon Stone was meant to be in the film as Fred's secretary, Sharon Stone (confused?), but now Halle Berry is the secretary now named Rosetta Stone.

The Grid - Swamp Thing down from 3 to #4
I liked this song, but always thought #4 was its peak.
So who's next at #3, whos No 1 you'll find out soon, but it's not going to be Take That (disappointed tone). Their last 4 singles debuted at #1, this one Love Ain't Here Anymore lands at #3 on its first week. But it is their 5th from the Everything Changes album, million selling album.
This along with the Elton song at #15 reminded me of the girl that I mentioned before, I was about to leave for secondary school so it holds poignant memories. For that reason and because of the Wets run at No 1 it was a Take That song that I was disappointed not to see at No 1. Of course we've since discovered it wasn't available on 7 inch vinyl, which quite possibly made the difference.
Here's Dom's comments Proof that Take That are on their way down in the popularity stakes since this is the first single in a long time to fail to go straight in at No.1. Depending on what happens next week, if they don't reach No.1, I'll give them six months before their crown is finally toppled. The video sucks too, but having said that, it is tailor-made for their girlie-teen audience.

So this is the moment you find out whats at #2
Its All 4 One (surprised tone)
I may have hated this song, but I still expected it to be No 1 this week, and looking at Dom's comments coming up it seems like I wasn't alone...
Possible contenders for next week's No.1, is Boyz II Me...oh sorry, All-4-One with this song which could have been there this week if it wasn't for..

Here's a quick recap from 10 to 2, 5 10 Dawn Penn - You Don't Love Me (No, No, No) 9 9 Aswad - Shine NE 8 Gun - Word Up 7 7 Reel 2 Real and the Mad Stuntmen - Go On Move 4 6 Big Mountain - Baby I Love Your Way NE 5 BC52s - Meet the Flintstones 3 4 Grid - Swamp Thing HNE 3 Take That - Love Ain't Here Anymore 2 2 All 4 One - I Swear And at No 1 for the 6th straight week the Wets - Love Is All Around Here's Dom's comments followed by his predictions for the following week, which seem spot on to me, with the exception of one comment The sixth week at No.1 for the cover of the Reg Presley song, who is estimated to have made over a million pounds (sterling, that is) from the royalties. While the film it is taken from, 'Four Weddings And A Funeral' continues to ride high in the cinema Top 10 (No.2 at the moment, I believe), the song will continue to sell well. So, next week, who will be No.1? I don't think Wet Wet Wet can stand the pace much longer, and hoping Take That don't reach the top... My predictions for next week's Top 3 is as follows : 1. All-4-One 2. Take That 3. Wet Wet Wet
