If you take a look in the Sales Archive in the Charts forum you should find the End Of Year charts although not all include sales (the further back you go the harder sales were to come by) I might be wrong but i don't think any of the yearend charts from the 80s and early 90s has any sales info attached.I just love sales info, maybe that's why i went to study accounting!I was determined to become a DJ after school but my parents were not impressed. Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but dynamo put up end of year sales figures in his "End Of year" thread last summer. Not official but probably pretty accurate. He also did one for 1980-87 later in the year.

Thank you for your comment. We got pretty accurate figures for most of them from articles in Number One magazines about the success of SAW/PWL.For a couple of them we only got the rank at a particular point in time, for instance Who's leaving who should be more than 182 000(FLM) but less than 210 000(Say i'm your no.1), so not a huge issue, but 200 000 plus just sounds so much better than 183 000, doesn't it?

Oh, I didn't know about the 1980-87 year ends! That might have saved me a bit of time if I found that thread. I'll go find it in a bit!

Nice one, thanks for this Trodster. Oh dear, I was massively out with my Pepsi and Shirlie "Heartache" figure! Im not convinced about how accurate those figures are.We had the official figures for Toy Boy and Whatever i do .Whatever i do for instance officially at 284 000, he has it as 319 000?!There discrepancies with all of the figures.Im sure it was based on averages for certain positions etc.Suppose Heartache couldve been higher than 200 000 perhaps.Nobody has come forward with any figures on both forums yet to substantiate any claims so i dont think we should change anything till we have more accurate stuff and that it can be backed up.

Ive just checked the list i got in early 1989 again, No I can prove it or Heartache were listed for instance. The reason probably they were both REMIXED by PWL/SAW and not produced or written by them.Im almost sure that both of their 7" versions were not SAW, only the 12" versions. The same reason Voyage Voyage was not listed even though it was a big hit.PWL did the remix called Britmix and did not write or produce the track. Its getting rather confusing now, isnt it?? ps.Let it be is placed above Respectable on the list for total sales.

Hmmm, I think it is the same with In Love With Love, in the fact it was always a non-official/official SAW song. I'm just sticking to the Cafe 80's list for now. It seems to be the one that is used the SAW reference tool, but I can see I have still a bit of work here!

Explain?I think the list we have so far is probably accurate, except for Let it be, and i don't believe we should include SAW 12" remixes as they aren't strictly SAW records then. That's how i feel anyway. Was this guy's stuff based on any actual sales figures?Or did he also calculate an average sales per weekly postion? You and i both know how sales can fluctuate from week to week.Im pretty sure Number One magazine got their from a very reliable source, must've been from inside the PWL camp, remember Pete Waterman also had a column in there, so there was a close connection.

I meant, that if they were not on the list of "official" SAW/SW releases as listed on Cafe 80's, then I wasn't going to use the track. I really haven't the energy to look up all the remixes as well!

Not even for me?? I agree though, it must be a well recognised SAW production before it qualifies.Just in case Dolly Parton writes in and demands that the PWL remix of I will always love you be included in our all imported chart!!

Not even for me?? Nope. If the track is not on the list in reply 13, then no. It's been far too traumatic as it is.
