Who do you think will be nominated I think Adele and Duffy will get the most and the toughest catagory will be Best British Female with these being nominated -Adele -Duffy -Estelle -Leona -Alesha Dixon

Don't they have to have released a new studio album in 2008? Not all of the above have.
I agree, this will be the most competitive category.
Compare with best british male category, and look at the album chart for 2008! Only Will Young and Rhydian feature in the top 30 albums of 2008 - lots of females! (Mika is there, but is he British, and wasn't his album released in 2007?)
I predict best male noms to be:
Will Young James Morrison ? ? ?
I think James could well get it, as his latest single has done well, and he seems to be more popular with the Brits voters than Will. As a Will fan the Brits are qute a disappointing affair.
I think Duffy will get best female.

No you don't have to release an album (even though all but Leona did) you just have to release new material

they all have released albums in 2008 except Leona but she has had new material Does that mean her album counts then? I thought re-releases didn't count?

I'd love Girls Aloud to finally get a Brit and Leona deserves one after the major snub this year.

Leon Jackson would have cleaned up if all the awards were voted for by Scottish people

I'd love Girls Aloud to finally get a Brit and Leona deserves one after the major snub this year. That's a matter of opinion. Personally I think Leona is awful, and in any case, Duffy has the #1 best selling album of 2008. If anyone DESERVES to win an award, then it's Duffy! I think that Duffy, Kings Of Leon and Coldplay will do well at the Brits in 2009.

Maybe Taio Cruz and Bryn Christopher as well?

Leona Lewis and Estelle do not deserve "Best British Female". Both heavily reliant on foreign songwriters. I'm not a fan of Adele but she does do her own stuff, which of course pales in comparison to Duffy's. But the BRIT Awards are merely a cheap sales plug and they ALWAYS go to the wrong artist. It's a great chance to promote some of the less well known and overlooked artists who might have a receptive audience totally unaware of them, and it's always missed. But worthy of continuation if only for the Belle & Sebastian win. Greatest moment in pop history. Pete Waterman was TOTALLY p*ssed off.

I read somewhere that there had been a bit of a shake up with the voting body for the Brits. They've got rid of a lot of panel members that didn't actually use their vote. I wonder if it will make a difference to the type of nominations for 2009. I do think the Brits is a bit of a farce though. I'm not sure how much credibility it has anymore to be honest.

So if you're going by how much sales they've clocked up, surely no matter what you think of Leona, you can't deny that she DESERVES a Brit.

She's benefited from a huge amount of free publicity. If she's so talented how come she didn't make it on her own?

Wouldn't The Streets be a British band? And the lead singer be the British Male?

Wouldn't The Streets be a British band? And the lead singer be the British Male? When it suits the Brits he's a solo male - he won the solo male brit a few years ago, after Will had had a huge success with Friday's Child. It still rankles
