£14 million rumoured transfer fee.
He's a bit of a "character" too, not someone I'd hire too quickly, not disceplined. (sp!).

i did have a laugh ready back through his top 10 bust ups
1) In 2002 the striker was cautioned for common assault after an incident outside a Newcastle nightclub in which he was alleged to have attacked a woman.
2) Bellamy appeared before a judge again in 2006 after being accused of assaulting two women in a Cardiff nightclub. The then Liverpool player was cleared following a five-day trial at Cardiff Magistrates Court.
3) During his time at Newcastle, the petulant Welshman had a bust up with Toon assistant coach John Carver at Newcastle Airport. Bellamy threw ‘quite a heavy chair’ at Carver during the fracas.
4) Bellamy had a ding dong with Magpies boss Graeme Souness in 2005 after Souness reportedly asked him to play out of position in right midfield. It’s believed that the striker refused to play out of position and said he’d fake an injury if asked to. He was subsequently dropped, then let rip at Souness, calling him a liar. An £80,000 fine followed for Bellamy's troubles...
5) After leaving Newcastle for Celtic, Bellamy had a pop at his old club via text message. Following Newcastle 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Man United in the 2005 FA Cup semi-final, the striker sent a string of messages to Alan Shearer calling him an old man and questioning his ability. “Your legs are gone. You're too old. You're too slow,” one of the texts was reported to have read.
6) Arguably his finest hour – on or off the pitch – took place during a Liverpool training camp in the Algarve in 2007. Bellamy saw red when, during a team karaoke night, full-back John Arne Riise refused to get up and sing. The pair exchanged abuse and had to be separated by team-mates, but Bellamy wasn't finished. After the gathering had dispersed, he armed himself with a golf club, tracked down the Norwegian and allegedly took a swing at him. Bellamy later commemorated the fracas in the goal celebration (above).
7) Bellamy’s most recent managerial bust-up was with former West Ham boss Alan Curbishley. The pair got into a war of words following the Hammer’s opening day defeat to Manchester City last season - Bellamy's first game for the club...
8) It’s not just managers and Alan Shearer that the Welshman has had beef with, however. Possibly borne out of his days as a Norwich player, Bellamy has also taken a pop at Ipswich fans. During West Ham's pre-season clash with The Tractor Boys Bellamy was accused of abusing fans after being substituted. It was alleged that he swore at supporters and made reference to Ipswich prostitutes.
9) According to reports, he ended his West Ham career with - yes - another bust-up. After being told by bosses at the end of the week that they wouldn't sell him to his favoured destination, Spurs, Bellamy allegedly stormed out of the training ground, seemingly never to return.
10) Bellamy's aggressive attitude arguably derives from his fierce patriotism. The striker studies Welsh history and has a huge tattoo of Owain Glyndwr, the Welsh freedom fighter who led a revolt against England in 1400. Perhaps Mark Hughes will be off the hook after all...

One of the biggest mercenaries, anyway. I'd say Anelka was a bigger mercenary, but Bellamy comes with more baggage. £14m is stupidly inflated, £7m (talked about at the start of the month) is more like it.

Call me a cynic, but are there any links between Man City and West Ham? West Ham have all this debt and might get more, so this is a kind way of helping them out, buy an average player at an inflated price.

I just think Mark Hughes has a higher opinion of Bellamy than most other people and has the funds to ensure he gets his man.

Craig Bellamy is an absolute tw@t. During his time at Newcastle he had a reputation as a trouble maker in the pubs on the Quayside. had it not been for the bouncers he would have been reduced to pulp a few times. Once my nephew was in the pub when Bellamy was there. Surrounded by all his hangers on he was constantly drunkenly shouting, including shouting insults at some of the women in the pub who were all fawning over him like groupies.
He had a spat with Shay Given a couple of weeks ago, swearing like a trooper in the tunnel at half time. Bellamy doesn't like the fact that Given used to stand up to him and sided with Shearer during their spat as Bellamy was leaving the club. Now they are going to be teammates again.
Stephen Caldwell played for Newcastle while Bellamy was there and the two got on OK. Caldwell was sold to somewhere like Hearts and played against Bellamy while Bellamy was on loan to Celtic. At the end of the match Caldwell went over to shake Bellamy's hand. The response? No handshake but instead Bellamy let rip with a tirade of abuse and then walked away. Caldwell said afterwards that he felt humiliated as he thought they had got on well at Newcastle and he was shocked at Bellamy's actions.
Bellamy was a good player at Newcastle, an invaluable goalscorer but a total pain. Bobby Robson once quipped that Bellamy could start a fight in an empty room! He also revealed that Bellamy just never stopped moaning in the dressing room at half time and after the match.

I remember an FA Cup tie when Newcastle got knocked out by a Championship side (might've been Wolves) and at the end of the game, rather than shake hands with anyone, Bellamy just went round pointing at the Premier League logo on his sleeve...

I've just been watching a Newcastle v Wolves match on ITV4 - no Craig Bellamy on this one though, it was from January 27, 1979! It was part of The Big Match Revisited and is on every Thursday at 11.25am. We drew 1-1, Peter Withe scoring our goal. It's funny to see the old St James Park - no cover on 2 sides of the pitch, behind the goals. Martin Tyler was the commentator though I would never have guessed it was him, it sounded nothing like him, his voice was higher pitched back then. Also featured was Notts Forest v York (final score 3-1) with the pitch covered in snow, lines marked out in the snow and an orange ball. These days the match would never have started in such conditions. Ipswich v Orient was the other match and Bobby Robson had black hair and didn't stumble over his words!
Back in January, February and March 1979 much of the country was covered in snow for much of the time with frequent heavy snow falls and slap bang in the middle of the worst of the weather, in the February, the teachers went on strike for 3 and a half weeks, so no school for nearly a month and lots of snow! Newcastle had only 2 home games in 2 months both FA Cup games), everything else was postponed because of the severe weather. It was unfortunate that our first home league match in two months was against Sunderland who trounced us 4-1 and we play them on Sunday... also we went back to school after the teachers strike two days later, on February 26 1979, and the Sunderland supporters were in their element...

Apparently Man City agreed to drop their interest in Palacios if Spurs dropped their interest in Bellamy, as West Ham refused to sell to Spurs as they're rivals.
