If you had to pick a dance record from 2008 that really did it for you and one which didn't cut it, what would you pick and why? (Based on songs which made the top forty)
The best:
Eric Prydz 'Pjanoo': Superb production, mammoth build and showing that you don't need vocals to get to number two in the charts. Also goes down brilliantly in clubs and was just fresh and different.
The worst:
Mark Brown 'The Journey Continues': A record even more tedious than the tv advert from which it samples. Wishy washy vocals, plodding and guaranteed to empty the dancefloor everytime.

Britney's 'Womanizer' is electropop in the same sense that Goldfrapp's 'Ooh La La' and Holly Valances's 'State Of Mind' are, but it is not an outright dance track. It does have electro elements to it, but is not electro dance.
Britney makes music to dance TO, but is not a dance artist nor is the track a dance record. Proper dance deejays like Tiesto, Armin, Sharam etc would not be playing 'Womanizer' in a dance set, whereas you are more likely to hear it on Trevor Nelson's Radio One show; that is how I equate it to not being a dance record!

I wouldn't class Womanizer as dance either to be honest, but I guess it's dancey pop that probably had a load of club remixes.
I'd put Prydz, Crystal Castles Crimewave or maybe Dizzee & Calvin at the top... and probably the second Basshunter single as the worst... can't even remember what it was called!

Womanizer is not a dance track! Jeeeez people you seriously need to learn your genres. Yes it is a track that you can dance to, but that does not make it a dance track. Its more electropop than anything else.

You said it, it's electropop, electro music is a sub genre under dance music, like drum & bass, garage, amongst many various facets of dance music.
