Someone is telling me they are dance.
I can't say I know them too well, and been shown one vid, where there is 3 guitars, 1 keyboard and 1 drumkit!

they are math rock, which is basically an experimental style of rock music that uses complex rhythmic structures including irregular stopping and starting aswel as asymmetrical time signatures so it is very complex. the rhythmic complexity is seen as "mathematical" hence the name. probably the most cutting edge math rock band is "battles" check out their song "atlas"

You can make dance music that way but I guess the modern definition of "dance" music doesn't extend to that kind of music. Not sure if they've released any "white labels" but that was a popular thing to do for bands like that as it was the only way they could get their music listened to by dance DJs. Space (i.e. Tommy Scott's band) also made some dance music (actually it was the member Fran who was the dance music fan in the band and who made most of it) and a lot of the early Madchester was a cross between indie and dance, particularly the Happy Mondays.
