Louis Walsh has asked for a £500,000 pay-rise to return to The X Factor.
The music manager is negotiating a deal worth £1.3 million to appear in the new series as a judge, reports The Sun.
An X Factor insider told the paper: "It may sound like a lot of money but that's how Louis sees his market value.
"He is a key reason why The X Factor has become one of Britain's most popular TV shows and he has had a lot of success in the 'real world' managing the likes of Boyzone and Westlife. Simon knows the viewers love Louis and he's going to have to dig deep to get him to sign up again."
Two years ago Louis was famously sacked from the series in favour of choreographer Brian Friedman, however, he was later drafted back in after Simon Cowell felt things weren't working out with the new panel member.
The X Factor judges are expected to sign their new contracts in the next couple of weeks. Speculation still remains that Dannii Minogue will not be returning and Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland is the latest name linked to the show as her replacement.
If Louis's demands are met, his £1.3 million salary will still be dwarfed by that of the show's creator Simon Cowell, who takes home £20 million as part of his ITV contract.

Cowell's pay is peanuts compared to what her earns in America though.
