Still missing a player Good to see that they've (pretty much) got a team together, especially with a few players sticking around after being released. Obviously they'll be among the favourites to go down

they have 4 or 5 young lads aswel as far as i am aware and are looking to bring in a few more players. it wouldn't surprise me if they try and loan a few young lads from fellow north east teams either

Me too. If he does come i'm hoping he has a lot of contacts and can open new doors for us! Of course it could all go t*ts up at some point but i'm enjoying all the media exposure and speculation surrounding the club at the moment!

I think someone must've said to him "We want you to be director of football at a famous team. They're in a big city with two teams, one wears red and is managed by a Scot, the other is owned by some rich Arabs" and he's entered discussions thinkign it was something else!
I hope he does come and you can do well, I'd like to see Nottingham have two successful football teams, and it'd be good to play each other competitively!

I know you've got rich Arab owners and all that, but do they want to blow all their cash on a "director of football"? He'd probably want about a mill. a season. If you dont get promoted this year, I'll be interested to see if the Arabs hang around...or move onto Forest...

So Sven is officially the Director of Football now! The News Conference has just taken place (live on Sky Sports News).
It's is all rather surreal, in the 20 or so years I have supported Notts I have never known so much media attention and that includes our time in the top flight! Last night we played Arnold Town away in the friendly and apparently the place was swarming with press including an ITN camera crew who did a rather decent feature on News At Ten last night!
What will happen now? Who knows, but it's not going to be boring, that's for sure!

I do like Notts County so it would be nice to see them rocket up the leagues.

I think they may find it harder than they realise, and let's hope they dont go bust (yet again).

Reminds me of when we got tommy burns..until i realised he knew v little bout lower leagues and the players he signed may have been good in the scottish lge or wherever but couldnt cut it in the 2nd div. Only signing who turned out to be good was murty for 700k, and even that was only several yrs later after he'd only managed 9 games for burns cos of injury. There, my 1st post from my new phone, hope it comes out ok!

we're supposed to be the muslim capital of the UK so why do we never get arab investors?

Most of Bradford's muslim population is Pakistani or Indian anyway, not Arab.
Anyway, Lee Hughes is signed up with possibly Jack Lester to come in the next few days and a couple of foreigners i've never heard of!

well does it matter, there are still plenty of mosques there and Allah's presence is well felt, so the investors should come!

Darlington have exited administration after being handed their 'Golden Share' by the Football League, meaning they can start the new season without a points deduction
great news for the club

Oh well we're already bottom.
Hope Notts County really are that good and not that we really are that bad but I suspect both...

Great result for Bournemouth today. They've reached three points far earlier than they managed last season.
Not sure how Darlington avoided a points deduction. Did they not owe anything to HMRC?

they recieved a 10 point deduction for going into administration and a mix of a new chairman, releasing all players and staff and pre season gates of 5k+ at £10 a head meant they were in good enough shape to exit administration and only failure to do so would result in a further points deduction. as for owing money, they will do in some form but obviously structured it cleverly like all teams that come out of administration, you cant tell me stripping a club of its assets makes it more financially sound, look at all the clubs that recently left administration, they are all crippled by debt still.
