Not a marked upturn in quality? No. Mind you I liked Hard Candy and all it's tracks whereas most people didn't rate it. hard candy was better than confessions in my opinion. 4 minutes was ok, give it to me, was quite good, miles away was great, but i also loved devil wouldn't recognise you... miles away (johny vicious remix) = incredible x

She is putting the singles but "re-mastered and slightly remixed to give them a modern feel" Doubt they'll alter them much tbh. It appears not CD 1: 01) Hung Up - LP Version 02) Music - LP Version 03) Vogue - Immaculate Collection Version 04) 4 Minutes - LP Edit 05) Holiday - LP Version 06) Like A Virgin - Immaculate Collection Version 07) Into The Groove - LP Version 08) Everybody - LP Edit 09) Like A Prayer - Immaculate Collection Version 10) Ray Of Light - LP Version 11) Sorry - LP Edit 12) Express Yourself - Immaculate Collection Version 13) Open Your Heart - Immaculate Collection Version 14) Borderline - Immaculate Collection Version 15) Secret - LP Edit 16) Erotica - LP Edit 17) Justify My Love - LP Version 18) Celebrate CD 2: 01) Dress You Up - LP Edit 02) Material Girl - LP Version 03) La Isla Bonita - LP Version 04) Papa Don't Preach - LP Version 05) Lucky Star - LP Edit 06) Burning Up - LP Version 07) Crazy For You - Immaculate Collection Version 08) Who's That Girl - LP Version 09) Frozen - LP Version 10) Miles Away - LP Edit 11) Take A Bow - LP Version 12) Beautiful Stranger - LP Version 13) Hollywood - LP Version 14) Die Another Day - LP Version 15) Don't Tell Me - LP Edit 16) Live To Tell - LP Version 17) Cherish - Immaculate Collection Version 18) Revolver

I'm getting the distinct feeling that the ball has, once again, been dropped on this one. A concerted global release of the single with accompanying big budget vid might have guaranteed a certain amount of buzz and pushed sales to a high chart placing in the UK, but so far almost everyone I know who might buy it has already downloaded it illegally, from France, or (I'm told - but is heresay) from UK iTunes, where "It's sort of just 'been' (albeit in a single track no remixes form) for ages now."
Mind you, her Warner Contract is over, and this is the last contractual obligation on it; do we really think she's gonan do an awful lot for it (which is why she's gone with two fairly bland and rather pointless tracks, imho)? An XFactor spot seems to be about all I've seen so far. She could have redone the S&S summer tour into a Greatest Hits one (a REAL GH one - inlike the "Reinvention" tour, which drew people in with promises of a night of revisited hits, then turned out to be "American Life" tour with a few old tunes shoved into it).
And would Warner's want to spring for a huge promo budget on a single which is largely an irrelevance (The album will sell by the shedload, regardless).
No, I think the real fun is gonna come with the first album for the new LN contract. Considering she makes more money live now than on album sales, how would YOU re-market Madonna?

She could have redone the S&S summer tour into a Greatest Hits one Nope, it had to be the same tour, so the gross of the 2009 leg would be added to the total gross, to make sure it stays the biggest grossing solo tour. She did include 3 new hits on tour, Dress You Up is clearly being rediscovered this year as it even got a prominent place as the opening track of CD2.

Apparently MadonnaTribe changed the listing: 09) Like A Prayer - LP Version 12) Express Yourself -Video Edit The Celebration advert (posted in this thread) suggests it's the Immaculate Collection version of both of these - which is a shame as they're far inferior to the originals.

Fans are saying the versions appearing in the ad probably just means they used the most convenient versions available, most likely does not reflect the actual versions on the CD.

Ah, how hard is it to put the actual singles onto such a compilation?!

From the 'Bizarre' Page, in today's UK Newspaper, 'The Sun':, (See the Comments beneath his Article). smurl.name/9hv6 IS MADONNA A MA-GONER? By Gordon Smart COULD this be the beginning of the end of MADONNA's reign as the Queen Of Pop? The powers that be at Radio 1 have snubbed Madge by failing to playlist her new single Celebration. The track, which sees the pop-skeleton collaborate with dance legend PAUL OAKENFOLD, has not made the A, B or C list for the UK's most popular and influential station. And after some digging through chart history, that's the first time one of her singles has not made the playlist. Madonna can console herself in the knowledge that at least Radio 2 have found a place for the song and have been playing it for the past two weeks. This has been coming for a while. Her Madgesty's last album, Hard Candy, didn't do as well as expected. Probably because it was rubbish. I'm also sick of the sight of her parading around in her undercrackers. On September 29 Madge will release her latest Greatest Hits compilation, also called Celebration. I think I'll celebrate when she finally puts her feet up and calls it a day.

According to a poster on Buzzjack no-one has yet seen the final tracklist as they've "decided to change it slightly to please fans" Seems starnge so late though, only a month away now!

Official tracklisting for both the DVD and CD from madonna.com. The DVD is pretty comprehensive though some classic videos not inc. I guess there is only so much space on 2 DVD. The DVD will be a great buy I think:
August 25, 2009 'Celebration' - Track Listing for CD & DVD Announced
For Immediate Release - August 26, 2009 - (Burbank, California) - Warner Bros. Records has confirmed the final track listing for Madonna’s upcoming “Celebration” CD – The “Ultimate” Compilation - and “Celebration the Video Collection DVD” – both scheduled to be released on September 28/29th. The songs which were selected by Madonna and her fans have all been exquisitely remastered. “Celebration” will be available as a two-CD set as well as a single CD.
The “Celebration Video Collection DVD” will include unedited and never before seen footage of “Justify My Love” along with 27 Madonna videos to be released on a DVD compilation for “the very first time” including “Into The Groove” and “Give It To Me” as well as the just completed video of Madonna’s new single “Celebration.”
Madonna clearly continues to rule the dance floor with her latest single. Her “Celebration” Remix EP is #1 on iTunes Dance Album chart as well as #1 on the Masterbeat overall chart. The song is #*5 on Billboard’s Club Singles Chart and the Greatest Gainer for the second week in a row. If “Celebration” reaches #1 on Billboard’s Club Single Chart, it would be Madonna’s 40th!!!! #1 Club single – the most of any artist in the history of the Billboard Club Singles Chart.
On the international front so far, the “Celebration” single is already #1 in Italy and Holland, #2 in Japan and is Top 5 airplay in every other major market.
Another newly recorded song, “Revolver” featuring Lil Wayne is also included on the “Celebration” CD. Artwork for the packaging of the CD and DVD was designed by renowned street pop artist “Mr. Brainwash.”
Currently on tour in Europe with her sold out “Sticky & Sweet” Tour, the multi-Grammy winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer with the highest grossing tour in history for a Female Artist, is scheduled to end her tour with her final show in Israel on September 2nd.
