Really interesting one here for you .What is your favourite Coldplay album.I think theres not much between them but my favourite is X and Y followed by a rush of blood to the head.I think Viva la vida is possibly my least fav.

The first two are my favourites but probably Rush has the edge for me. They're all brilliant though.

They're all great, but my favourite is X&Y for sure.

I kinda have a problem with Coldplay. Imo they have released the same same album 4 times in a row, and fans have been naive enough to buy it 4 times I loved Parachutes back in the day, was kinda disappointed with the lack of progression in A Rush... but then X&Y is virtually a carbon copy of the first two albums, no progression, zero evolution... didn't even bother with album 4 after that

X and Y is appaling. Should never have been released. It was really not coldplay. On the subject of sameyness, Coldplay are anything but samey, Parachutes was their hit onto the scene, was very simple. Rush of blood was more complex, both albums I love, ROB getting my vote. Clocks is a masterpiece to me. I love playing the piano for Clocks.
X and Y was way too experimental for them, too electro produced.
VLV was back to good stuff, experimenting with old techniques to bring a new sound.
I'm not a naive Coldplay fan, just think some people are too judgemental of them.

I agree about X&Y to a degree. It's my least favourite of all their albums, it was over produced and too thought out imo. They should've stuck to the simple and succinct stuff from the first two albums.

X and Y is completely different to the first two albums in my view

It is, and it's much worse for it.
My view on Coldplay. 'Viva La Vida' is a class album, 'Parachutes' is great, 'Rush' has its excellent moments but tails off a bit and 'X&Y' is pretty dull. It has some great songs, but it's half filler.

"X&Y" is simply superb - one of the best albums of the decade.
"A Rush Of Blood..." doesn't quite have enough variety for me, but is aging like a fine wine. Consistent and solid.
"Viva La Vida..." has some great highlights, but is too patchy. The "Prospekt's March" EP enhances the album, if they're listened to back-to-back.
I don't like "Parachutes" much. It's the sound of a band finding their feet, with the odd moment of inspiration signalling what is to come. I barely play it anymore.
I'm delighted to read the differing views being posted here. To me, its one sign of a great band - different albums appealing to different constituencies.

out of all of them X and Y is the one that keeps me listening. I tend to lose interest in rush of blood to the head halfway through ,although clocks is a amazing track .talk is there best single in my view.

Oh I loved X&Y. The Speed Of Sound is their best single to these ears, though Fix You really grated on me after a while. I must admit, I have never actually bought a Coldplay album, I was always tend to get bought them on birthdays, so own them by default really. Not that I'm complaining of course.

Can't believe X & Y is winning, it is easily their poorest album! Voted for Parachutes
