I was going to do something similiar to this,NME has a bit in their letters page about, Who were your favourite 1st Divison Brit Pop Bands and yeh you have named one which was Gene, I also really liked Boo Radleys,Embrace and Mansun.
Of the 'Premier League' I loved Suede and Blur the most out but Pulp,Manic Street Praechers and Oasis werent far behind.

Menswe@r had a record deal when they had a repertoire of 6 songs. Remember that when the record industry complains about losing money.
Best Britpop era band was Pulp, by some distance, I reckon. But I really miss Kenickie.

we were spoilt back then, I never understood why when we had such a strong music scene they went and killed it. (Who exactly killed it I don't know).
Anyway, I loved Pulp in particular, and Dodgy's "Free Peace Sweet" album was one of the greatest. Not exactly brit-pop, actually a bit before but Carter USM. Their "Worry Bomb" album was 1995 so that was in the britpop years and possibly their best complete album.
Space and Ash were also among my favourite Britpop bands. I have really to judge it by their albums not their singles. I bought far more albums back then.

does Radiohead count? if so, then Radiohead... if not, Suede and Pulp for me... yesterday I randomly heard Trash on the radio, and realized how amazing Suede were... I also liked Blur and Oasis, though both disappointed me at some point... oh and the Manics, although their albums were never as good as I wanted them to be , I also liked Ash, Ocean Colour Scene, Bluetones,... I also liked Skunk Anansie, not sure if they qualify as Britpop...

I'd count all of those. It was notable that Paul Weller released Stanley Road around that time and was pretty much embraced within britpop, including working together with some of its bands like Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene.

Only two votes allowed? That's going to be a tough choice

Has Suede's Dog Man Star (to include the bland commercial Coming Up over the greatest Britpop album of all-time IMHO is a joke if serious); Dubstar's Disgraceful; Portishead's Dummy and all Manic's albums been left out because they fall in the classic A list category or have they been snubbed/forgotten?

I think it's stretching a point to count Portishead as Britpop, TBH. Maybe the same goes for Dubstar as well.
Of course I had to vote for Gene, although just between you and me I think Drawn To The Deep End was their best one.
