Well here is the first single from Noels upcoming solo album.
what do you lot think?
its very "importance of being idle" from Oasis's 6th album "don't believe the truth."
Im really enjoying this.... very catchy pop tune!!!

It reminded me of Importance of Being Idle as well which surely is a bit of a cop out from Noel. It doesnt sound anything special to me.

The only thing those tracks have in common other than Noel Gallagher is the Ray Davies Kinks influence. Importance Of Being Idle was clearly "inspired" by the 1966 Kinks single "Dead End Street"; this track sounds like it could have been taken from the 1971 Kinks album "Muswell Hillbillies", as it has a similar Americana feel with the brass instrumentation. As I love The Kinks, then it's safe to say I prefer that to any track from the poor Beady Eye album.

Much better than any of the singles off the Beady Eye album, which was very disappointing! Excited to hear more.

Love Noel (we all know he was the talent behind Oasis...don't we??) but i have to agree with this. Very similar 'feel' to the song. I'm still gonna buy the album though.

Everytime I hear it on the radio I think they are playing The Importance of Being Idle. Im still of the opinion that it is a very average song.

It's good, like everyone has said, it sounds like the Importance of being idle, but that's not a bad thing.

personally it's only his vocal style (falsetto) that make it sound like the importance of being idle. the chords are different it's in a different key too.

its like the americana version of "the importance of being idle".not a bad thing at all.actually its a great song/single that i really love.i cant wait for the album now.
btw, its just a mistake to compare his solo work with beady eye.
i mean Noel is probably the best songwriter of the last 20 years.why beady eye, a new band with the "underrated" members of oasis, should release something better than Noel?i dont know many people who can write better than Noel. in every case i still find Beady Eye's "Different Gear, still speeding" an excellent debut with some amazing tunes (the roller, the beat goes on, four letter word etc.) and i still cant make a choice which track i like more "the roller" or "the death of you and me" ...

Really Noel the best songwriter in the last 20 years? Have you actually heard/read his lyrics?

Really Noel the best songwriter in the last 20 years? Have you actually heard/read his lyrics? yeah why not? what about the beatles? lyrics ? at times they seem dodgy. Yellow submarine? wild honey pie? and more Noel is up there with the greatest no doubt

Erm, Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker, Alex Turner, Guy Garvey,... That said, Noel's new song is far better than anything I've heard by Beady Eye.

Whilst it is better than the majority, if not all, of the Beady Eye album, it still has the same traits as 90% of any other Gallagher penned tracks since the turn of the century, as it may as well be The Importance of Being Idle....

The beat goes on by Beady Eye is absolutely brilliant and a million times better than this. Saying that, both brothers are doing stuff that sounds exactly the same as Oasis so why don't they just kiss and get back together?

Ringo wrote Yellow Submarine didnt he? Also every song that is written isnt going to be a classic. Suedehead is right I would put all those above Noel and I dont even like Elbow. Really Noel the best songwriter in the last 20 years? Have you actually heard/read his lyrics? yeah why not? what about the beatles? lyrics ? at times they seem dodgy. Yellow submarine? wild honey pie? and more Noel is up there with the greatest no doubt
