Anyone watching this tonight? (Live on Channel 4 for the first time in over a decade)
The Denver Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks in the first Super Bowl to be played outdoors in a northern city. East Rutherford, New Jersey is the venue, just a few miles from New York.
This year's game sees the two best teams in the league go head-to-head with the dominant Broncos offence taking on the Seahawks "Legion of Boom" defence. Peyton Manning will be looking to cement his legacy as arguably the best quarterback in NFL history as he attempts to win a second Super Bowl ring, having won his first with the Indianapolis Colts seven years ago. He goes into the game on the back of being named league MVP for a record fifth time, having set regular season records for completions and touchdown passes. His opposite number is second year QB Russell Wilson, who was voted Rookie of the Year in his first season and has established himself as one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league, but the Seahawks' onus will very much be on their defence, which led the league in fewest points allowed, fewest yards allowed and takeaways.
If the Seahawks can shut down the Broncos, it could put a lot of pressure on the Broncos defence, over which several question marks remain.

Wondered if anyone was going to raise the topic of the Super Bowl.
I'm going to miss the early part of the match unfortunately.
I'm going to opt for a Broncos' victory.
Also I'm looking forward to all the Super Bowl commercials.
Bruno Mars is performing at half-time.

My girlfriend's very happy about Bruno Mars performing. (with a guest appearance by Red Hot Chili Peppers, I believe)
Being on in the early hours of the morning over here, it's not a big deal from an ad perspective (though it'll be fun catching up with them on Monday). In fact, Channel 4 is going to be running the game ad-free after half-time!

As for the winner, head says Seahawks (defence often comes out on top in great offence v great defence battles), but heart says Broncos, as I'd really like to see Peyton Manning win another SB.

I do believe you're right regarding Red Hot Chili Peppers also performing.

I'll be recording it, and watching the highlights during the week. I'm expecting the Seahawks to prevail.

I didn't watch it. Not even the world's expert on American football could make me understand it.

Trust me I don't get the rules either but I just trust to the officials when they call it and assign penalties.

I had madden years ago, and it taught me everything about American football, but in real life it is SO SLOW and laborious I don't want to watch it. The actual game is quite fun, and I'm not bad at Madden . I am a ravens fan.

Watched the game last night. I can't remember such as one-sided NFL match, nevermind a Superbowl. The Seahawks were ruthlessly brilliant, and thoroughly deserved the win. The Broncos equally inept, in defence and offence. And what an atmosphere - easily the best Superbowl I can remember.

Denver have been on the end of a few good hideings in the Super Bowl they lost 42-10 to my team the redskins then I think there was a 55-10 v the 49ers on one occasion.first downs and the rules are easy to follow once you know how I been watching since c4 had it on in the 80s

not something I ever got into...as for ice hockey i used to have NHLPA93 for the megadrive so learnt the basics as a kid then moved up through PlayStation and Xbox hockey games until i started going to see Billingham Stars play (my local team) a few year ago, went too most the home games and one away game last season, aswel as casually watching the winter olympics over past years im looking forward to that
theres not much i like about american football, its all posturing, slow slow slow to watch and hard to pick up on if your just a casual watcher and whats with all the pads? have they never seen rugby
