Great strike to bring Ecuador level but poor play from Wilshere and Milner.

Milner's having probably the worst game I've seen someone have in an England shirt since Carlton Palmer was playing.

Wild, reckless tackle by Sterling and a ridiculous reaction by Valencia.
Both red carded. Ouch!!

Harsh red card for Sterling. Valencia's reaction was stupid but I thought the ref could've just had a word and then just get on with the game.

Something to bear in mind: Italy have drawn 1-1 with Luxembourg this evening.

All over. Fair result 2-2.
Useful exercise for Roy Hodgson.
Next up Honduras.

Sterling is the 13th player to be sent off while playing for England (15th red card in total).
The others: Alan Mullery (v Yugoslavia, EC, 1968) Alan Ball (v Poland, WCQ, 1973) Trevor Cherry (v Argentina, Fr, 1977) Ray Wilkins (v Morocco, WC, 1986) David Beckham (v Argentina, WC, 1998) Paul Ince (v Sweden, ECQ, 1998) Paul Scholes (v Sweden, ECQ, 1999) David Batty (v Poland, ECQ, 1999) Alan Smith (v Macedonia, ECQ, 2002) David Beckham (v Austria, WCQ, 2005) Wayne Rooney (v Portugal, WC, 2006) Robert Green (v Ukraine, WCQ, 2009) Wayne Rooney (v Montenegro, ECQ, 2011) Steven Gerrard (v Ukraine, WCQ, 2012)

Something to bear in mind: Italy have drawn 1-1 with Luxembourg this evening. With something that's likely to be pretty close to their chosen starting line-up too.

Not bad considering it was effectively a handicap match with that back 5.
The negatives: It highlighted the complete lack of depth we have defensively. You can forgive Luke Shaw - he's young and inexperienced and he's learning on the job. Jones and Smalling should know better. And hopefully Milner will never play another game at right-back in his career (or spend a minute on the pitch at the World Cup). Wilshere was poor as well. Out of the midfielders, I'd probably only have Milner behind him in the pecking order now. The problems with possession came back to haunt England during the final half hour and cost them the victory. Up until then, they'd been easily the better side.
The positives: We looked very exciting going forward, especially compared to the Peru game. Oxlade-Chamberlain had a great game and hopefully his injury isn't serious. Barkley and Sterling both caused problems as well. England could terrify defences with those guys on the pitch. Lambert took his goal well and is more than justifying his inclusion ahead of Andy Carroll.

So Beckham and Rooney the only two sent off on two occasions.

The second Beckham sending-off was a joke. It seemed to be a referee wanting to make a name for himself by sending off the most famous footballer on the planet. I've forgotten his name so it wasn't entirely successful.

By the way, Rooney was definitely onside for his goal tonight. He was behind the ball when Lambert backheeled it against the post and it then fell to him off the keeper.

The less said about that the better.
Arguably our b team + rooney. I thought barkley, oxlade chamberlain, lambert and sterling did very well but will any of them start v italy? I doubt it.
Rooney was off the pace but got a goal to add to his collection of useless goals in games that domt matter. Milner was butchered but the guy isn't a right back. Smalling is one of the worst players I have ever seen, how he is in the england team I dont know. Wilshere was awful and adds nothing to the team he just moans a lot and rolls aroind injured. And the rest did well enough

The Ox's injury might win the jackpot on Arsenal injury bingo... International friendly, injury looks iffy at first, then he walks off unaided, now he's going to have a scan. Preparing myself for the news that he's out for six months...

Preparing myself for the news that he's out for six months... And even worse news is arsenal are lining up a bid to bring in james milner as their new right back. Maybe steve bould should handle defensive signings
