Not many people outside Spain will care.
Meanwhile, it's currently Dagenham 6-6 Brentford in the league cup...

Haven Match Report
Burton Albion 2-1 Wigan Athletic Capita One Cup 1st Round
Attendance: 2,702 Cost: Ticket £10 + Programme £3 + free parking on the road
Resumé:
A deserved win for Burton, in a game of two halves. Although Wigan made several changes to their line-up, their starting XI still possessed 168 international caps, and looked the most comfortable during the first half. Marc-Antoine Fortuné made enough space to turn and fire in low to put Wigan ahead in a game which was slow to come to life. However, as the match progressed Burton grew in confidence, and they grabbed an equaliser just before half-time through substitute Dominic Knowles.
A brief downpour just after the re-start seemed to put Wigan completely off their stride, and Burton dominated the rest of the match, creating chance after chance, in a pulsating second half. Stuart Beavon knocked in the winner in the 52nd minute. It was clear the game was up when Wigan, in desperation, threw on lumpy target man Grant Holt for the final quarter. Credit to Burton who kept pressing forward, with the final 20 minutes being little less than a humiliation for Wigan.
Man Of The Match: Lucas Akins. Burton’s 25 year-old attacking midfielder possesses strength, speed and exemplary close control. Looks like a fine close season signing, who could play at a higher level.
Not Man Of The Match: Ivan Ramis. Incredible that this centre back represented Spain at U-19, U-21 and U-23 level, given his distribution is atrocious. His team mates seemed to have no confidence in him, and he dropped deeper and deeper as the game progressed. Unlikely to make Wigan’s first XI too many more times this season.
Shireblogger Match Rating: 8/10. Despite the low attendance, a great atmosphere. Always fun to see a cup upset under the floodlights. And a bargain at £10 admission too.

Arsenal sent out a statement of intent for the season as they impressively dismissed Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley. www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/28647186This wasn't screened over here unfortunately. It was on Fox Sports. Very good performance from us, with a particularly nice goal from Giroud. Koscielny picked up a minor worry though and is a doubt for Palace, meaning we currently have zero fit centre-backs in our squad They did actually screen it after all. Good performance by Arsenal but it wasn't really a full strength Man City and ultimately has no real meaning in terms of what will happen in the league this coming season.

European Super Cup tonight. Real V Sevilla. Any predictions? I see it's on Fox Sports 1 tonight (about 75 minutes from now) so I'll watch it without knowing the score. I can't see Real losing though they weren't terribly good in the Guinness ICC match I saw in Dallas against Roma. Of course a few key players were missing that night.

And the Daggers won on penalties having only had the lead for a few minutes Brentford won on penalties. Jamie Cureton scored for Dagenham. I remember seeing him score a consolation goal for Norwich against Arsenal in 1995!

We have the first Premier League casualty already and the season hasn't kicked off yet. Tony Pulis has left Crystal Palace "by mutual consent".

Wanted control of transfers, club wouldn't let him so he's walked. He'll be first in line when another Premier League job comes up...

Most likely West Ham. Sam Allardyce is basically a dead man walking. Some of the performances in those pre-season friendlies were shambolic.

West Ham is odd. Because it would make so much sense to sack a resonably successful manager who the fans don't like as the football's boring, and replace him with Tony Pulis.
Can't blame their chairman, one thing his time at Stoke pointed to was that he cannot spend big fees, just waste after waste.
Keane is surely nailed on for Villa too.
