******************15 Saves The Day - At Your Funeral***************************
This was my favourite song of 2001. I absolutely loved emo then and this track was never of MTV2. I don't know why I loved it so much just the choir boy like vocals and the fuzzy guitars along with the hypnotic video.

There was so much diversity in UK charts, always will miss those good old days. It was because you didn't need to sell much to get in the charts and songs were played on radio for 2 months and by the time the song came out everyone bought it first week so even underground songs could go in high. Now you need so many streams the underground has no hope of going mainstream.

******************14 Goo Goo Dolls - Here Is Gone***************************
Oh another power ballad. As I said last week I loved this album and I think this song is one of Goo Goo Dolls absolute best probably only beaten by 'Iris' and 'Name'. It only reached #81 in the UK so wont comment more on that.

******************13 Coldplay – The Scientist***************************
Now we have the highest entry for Coldplay. With a brilliant and very sad video. I really think this is their masterpiece and an absolute classic. This reached #10 in 2002.

******************12 The Killers – All These Things That I've Done***************************
Not the last appearance for The Killers of course. This is their live anthem one of my favourite ever gig moments was singing along to this at T In The Park. We are so close to the end so I will save more Killers talk for later but this reached #18 in 2004.

If I will post my retrospective # 1s from the second half of 1990s and 2000s you will understand which type of pop acts I loved in past and they are not represented in the current UK singles charts.

******************11 The Airborne Toxic Event – Sometime Around Midnight*************************** Some bands release a single so perfect that it just can't be ignored but they are never able to compare to again. Zane Lowe had such power during this time he could promote a little known band like this into the top 40. Yes the song is near perfection but I song like this wouldn't go top 2000 these days sadly.. One of the last great indie top 40 hits This was my favourite song of 2008. It reached #33 in 2008 I think it might have been 2009 as it did get promoted twice. This is the second video but I preferred the first one will try to find it. I think if I could only listen to 10 songs for the rest of my life this would be one of them!!!

oooh the top 10
******************10 Transplants - Diamonds & Guns***************************
One of the catchiest rock songs of the 00s. Rancid and Travis from Blink 182 get together . More famous now for being featured in tv adverts which really are so inappropriate for this song hehe Actually its quite shocking I have rap in my top 10 of the 00s who would have thought. This reached #27 in 2002.

******************9 Foo Fighters – Times Like These***************************
Highest entry for Foo Fighters, they had to make the top 10. this was the second single from 'One By One' and reached #12 in 2003. You can almost put any Foo Fighters hits in different order but 3 years ago this was the one I put top.

******************8 MGMT – Kids***************************
Third single taken from their debut album and it was such an obvious single don't know why they waited so long to release it maybe because they already knew they were going to change their style maybe. This song should have been a number one record i am not joking. Another perfect song is there a song who a bigger hook on this whole list, I don't know. anyway it reached #16 in 2008. Oh just released why it wasn't a number one, this video oh dear, it was never going to get played on The Box hehe

******************7 Biffy Clyro - Folding Stars***************************
I think 'Puzzle' is still my favourite BiffY Clyro album, it is the one most special to me. 'Folding Stars' was my favourite for a long time but it has been replaced by a song still to come. I know that teh band don't even play it that much as it is such a personal song. It reached #18 in 2007

******************6 Franz Ferdinand – Take Me Out***************************
This had to be in the top 10, one of the biggest and best crossover indie hits of the 00s. I just never tire of it, it still sounds so fresh. It reached #3 in 2004.

******************5 Billy Talent - Try Honesty***************************
Into the top 5 and we start with this Canadian emo rock anthem. This song is so angry but so melodic at the same time and the lead guitar part is just gorgeous especially the solo. This song is everything that is great about emo and I wish the current crop of emo bands remembered this. This reached #68 in 2003.

At this point two of the top 4 are pretty obvious but the other two could be almost anything, and number four is
***************Black Kids - I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You************
Another song of the year, I just loved this so much I think it is one of my most played songs of the 21st century. It is complete nonsense but it just always made me feel happy. They made one decent album and then completely disappeared and they actually returned with a pretty good album last month. This track went straight in at #11 in 2008

Number three is a song that was number two on my earlier list.
********************Snow Patrol - Spitting Games*********************
I love this song more for the original single version which you just can't find anywhere on video. The revised version takes away a lot of the fuzz that made it so good. Another happy song. The re-issue reached #23 in 2004. Claim to fame, I once to a DJ warm up for Gary Lightbody when they did a DJ set at our student union in 2001.

Ok people who now me should now know what the top two is. We haven't had my two favourite songs by my favourite two bands of the 00s. Which is number one??? Well at two is..............
****Biffy Clyro – Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies***
I think this is Biffy Clyro's masterpience so many different sounds, its heavy, its proggy and has a killer chorus. Just a perfect rock song and the fact nobody not even me entered it into Rock Idol is a massive massive shock. To be fair I was put off my the fact that there are vocal haters of Biffy Clyro on our boards so I didn't enter them even though I stand by the band 100%. It was just such a brilliant introduction to their album. It reached #19 in 2007.

Ok now it is obvious what my number one is but really I am not being predictable. I was one of the first people in the world to hear this song when Zane Lowe played the demo on Radio 1. I instantly fell in love with it, I was like who are this incredible band. As soon as those synths kicked it it just gave me chills and 14 years later it still gives me chills. The best song of the 21st century and probably one of my top 10 songs of all time.
Number One track of the 00s.....
*******The Killers – Mr. Brightside*******
It is just perfect and even now it is a massive seller and streamer. It reached #10 in 2004 on re-issue but it cant be far of a million if it isn't already.
