www1.skysports.com/f1/news/17581/9635325/details-of-marussias-debts-are-leakedThe Marussia F1 team entered administration with debts of over £31m to trade creditors, it has been revealed. Over half of the eye-watering sum was owed to Ferrari, the team’s engine suppliers prior to their demise midway through the 2014 campaign. Another £7m was owed to McLaren, with whom Marussia had a technical partnership, and almost £1m to tyre suppliers Pirelli. The leaked documents submitted by administrators FRP Advisory do not include the debts owed to Lloyds Development Capital and Marussia Communications. In total, Marussia collapsed with debts in excess of £60m with over 200 staff at the Banbury-based team being made redundant following their demise in November. Over trade 200 creditors are listed on the documents, ranging from the £16.6m of debt to Ferrari down to the £2.23 still owed to Snap on Tools. The team’s remaining assets have been put up for auction while it is believed that their Banbury factory headquarters has been sold to the Haas outfit which is due to join the grid in 2016.

The FIA have revealed further details of the criteria that will be used when issuing super licences to new drivers from 2016. A new points system will be introduced with greater weighting given to certain championships and drivers will be required to accumulate 40 points during the three seasons prior to application. Winning a future FIA F2 championship would give a driver 60 points, however, the rules also state that they must have spent at least two years in junior formula. With no F2 championship currently in existence, GP2 is the highest-rated of the current series under the new rules with 50 points given to the winner. The FIA European F3 Championship, WEC LMP1 and IndyCar are the only other championships offering enough points to the winner to apply for their F1 licence. That makes Formula Renault 3.5 a less desirable option for young drivers with just 30 points given to the winner – the same as GP3. Previously the FR3.5 champion had 12 months to apply for an F1 licence from the final race. Drivers will also have to hold a valid road driving licence, be at least 18 years of age and have completed at least 300km of running in a representative F1 car. The new regulations were ratified in December and, had they been in place this year, would have prevented the debut of Max Verstappen in Australia. The Dutchman has completed just a single season in junior formula and his third-place finish in European F3 would have given him just 20 points. One consequence of this rule - it is stays intact, and doesn't get abandoned next time Ferrari want to use an ineligible driver - is that it will focus attention more clearly on certain junior formulae. It becomes much more transparent where to look for future stars, because the best of the youngsters will be trying to earn their super licence points as quickly as possible, and hence will be going head-to-head.

Jumping away from F1 to Formula E this weekend, there are 2 driver changes for this weekend's Buenos Aires race - Marco Andretti (son of Michael, grandson of Mario) replaces Matthew Brabham at Andretti, and Ho-Pin Tung returns to China Racing in place of Antonio Garcia.

A good FE race, especially with several cars dropping out of contention near the end. Safety car period was a bit farcical though.

There was an element of Wacky Races about Formula E, with a succession of leaders being removed from contention by suspension failures, crashes and penalties, and the last man standing coming through for a win. It is quite entertaining though, and the coverage seems to be improving with each race.

New cars being unveiled this week and a rather drastic change of livery for Sauber, switching to a blue and yellow combination, reminiscent of the rather crap late 80s team Rial.

Manor have announced Will "Here Comes The Money" Stevens as one of the drivers of their invisible car.
Joking aside, I hope they make it to the grid because an 18-car field just seems wrong.

It was doctor's orders on the grounds that a second heavy impact within 21 days of the first could cause life-threatening damage. That would rule him out of Friday and Saturday in Melbourne so the decision was taken for him to sit out the whole weekend and Kevin Magnussen to drive instead.
Would've been interesting to see what McLaren would've done if they hadn't retained Button...

Spain's Roberto Mehri has been confirmed as Manor's second driver, alongside Will Stevens. Former British F3 champion (and son of the team's benefactor) Jordan King has been named as test driver.

Rather amusingly, Giedo van der Garde has won his court case against Sauber and the court has ruled he should drive for the team this weekend...
