1000. Babylon Zoo – Animal ArmyIn at 1000 is Babylon Zoo's other (much forgotten) "hit", released on the back of Spaceman it reached #17 in the charts, it hasn't aged well but i loved it at the time www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kSlxHhM614999. Def Leppard – Let's Get RockedOne of several Def Leppard songs to make my list, expect to see a few higher up my list 998. These Animal Men – You're Always RightAnybody remember this Britpop band? Formed in Brighton in 1990, this was the lead single from their 1995 ep "Taxi For These Animal Men" www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_vDVxqpumc997. No Mercy – D'Yer Mak R One of my guilty pleasures, No Mercy with a cover of a Led Zeppelin classic 996. Sublime – Santeria An American Ska band until their lead singer died of a Heroin overdose at 28, never really heard of them until a few years ago but this is my favorite song by them 995. Bellini – Samba De Janeiro Always reminds me of football, peaked at #8 in th UK 994. Shed Seven – Dolphin One of many Shed Seven songs to appear, seen them live twice in recent years and they are still awsome 993. Eiffel 65 – Move Your Body Another song to ride on the back of an artists biggest hit (Blue da ba dee), Move Your Body somehow reached #3 in the UK but can only peak at 993 in my chart 992. E-Rotic– Max Don´t Have Sex With Your Ex E-Rotics only charting single (#45) in the UK, German europop band known for their risky music videos, (you might see more of these later on), firmly filed under the so bad its good category www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UMCVK1fr0c991. Astro Chimp – She's My Summer Girl Probably better known for having his songs covered by Nirvana but Eugene Kelly of The Vaselines fame released this cover under the name Astro Chimp in 1996 www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPZj4XqxU00990. Dr Bombay – Rice & Curry A 1998 single from Swedish Eurodance artist Jonny Jakobsen sang in the perspective of a fictitious Indian taxi driver, later he released 2 albums as Mexican Carlito (2006 – Fiesta, 2007 – World Wild), www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vFEBZd-fHQ

989. Warrant – Cherry PieTop 40 hit for American heavy metal band Warrant named the 56th best hard rock song of all time by VH1 988. Green Jelly – Three Little PigsComedy Heavy Metal Band, I remember this music video was all over MTV back in the late 90's early 00's www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtffv9bpB-U987. Scooter – FriendsHaving sold over 30 million records and earning over 80 Gold and Platinum awards, this is where it all started with their first charting UK EP 986. Vengaboys – We Like To Party! (The Vengabus)Pure 90's cheese, my local club still plays this song today as part of its 90's cheese mix 985. Moby – HoneyThe first of 307 singles released from Play, there are much better ones to come but most were released in the 00's 984. Bryan Adams – Please Forgive MeA #2 hit in 1993, not one I was aware of until my late 20's but I do love a bit of Bryan Adams 983. Cappella – Move On Baby #7 hit for Italian Eurodance group Capella 982. Dodgy – In A RoomDodgy actually played in Shildon my hometown last year, how the mighty have fallen, but they had 9 top 40 hits and a top 10 album, the Britpop veterans have a few more songs to come but this one just makes my chart at 982 www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofhpVpNuc_k981. Len – Steal My SunshineCanadian alternative rock group released this in 1999, a time when i had music on heavy rotation so it is engraved on my brain, probably the definition of a One Hit Wonder www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1fzJ_AYajA980. Jamiroquai – Space CowboyNot my favorite Jamiroquai song but here it is, it was the first song of theirs that I remember

979. Aqua – Roses Are RedA hugely underrated Aqua song and the first single from hugely successful album "Aquarium" selling 14 million copies worldwide www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrgCGtMFeyU978. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince – SummertimeWill Smith with his first real hit 977. Finley Quaye – Sunday Shining Top 20 hit from Finley Quaye sampling Bob Marley "Sun is Shining" www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-ORJddr0QY976. Rage Against The Machine – Bullet in the HeadSaw them live in 2008 and they were one of he best bands I have seen live, one of many songs to make my chart 975. Apache Indian – Boom Shack-A-Lak #5 hit in 1993, one of a few songs in my list probably introduced to me by free CD's in the mid 90's on magazines such as Smash Hits, brilliant when your 10 974. The Chemical Brothers – Hey Boy Hey Girl Classic, maybe a bit overplayed to make it higher in my chart, not really a genre I was ever into either but I appreciate a good song when I hear it 973. Ace of Base – Lucky Love Not ashamed to admit I am a bit of an Ace of Base fan, one of many top 20 hits from one of Sweden's most successful acts www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SGmxbVkUcU972. Mary Lou Lord – Some Jingle Jangle Morning If touring with Elliott Smith several times and being friends with Kurt Cobain before Nirvana's mainstream fame doesn't get you cool points then nothing will www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1bzM50Pq7g971. Snow – Informer20 years later and I still don't have a clue what he is saying 970. The Tamperer– If You Buy This Record (Your Life Will Be Better)None of my mates remember this song but it reached #3 in the chart, based on a sample from Madonna's "Material Girl", released shortly after they had a #1 hit with Feel It youtube.com/watch?v=pFNcBB3nZok

969. Aerosmith – PinkWe're back, hello, welcome, its a brand new day. I will try and get my first 250 songs out the way pretty quickly because the top 750 is much more impressive, first up today is Aerosmith with their 1997 hit "Pink", didn't do so well in the chart only reaching #38 968. Double You – Run To MeAnother Eurodance song from an Italian, this time by Double You, the song didn't chart in the UK but it doesn't stop it entering my chart, a hidden classic www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLj1Qx0JCT4967. Ani Difranco – Wishin' and Hopin'In at 967 is a Burt Bacharach cover, which was a Top 10 hit for Dusty Springfield, it appeared in the film "My Best Friend's Wedding" 966. Scooter – Endless SummerAnother song from their debut UK EP 965. Dr Bombay – CalcuttaSwedish Eurodance artist Jonny Jakobsen is back again with Calcutta, another one to be filed under so bad it's good 964. E-Rotic – Fritz Love My TitzThe Europop theme continues with the highest entry for German Electro Dance band E-Rotic, I am a huge fan of the subject matter so I had to include it, I can't take this song seriously but they certainly nailed the generic techno piano www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uuejdQa60c963. The Flaming Lips – Turn It OnBack down on planet earth we have the first entry for The Flaming Lips, a band I saw by accident in 2003 when they filled in for The White Stripes after Jack White broke his wrist, what a live show they put on. 962. Sash! – EcuadorEcuador, featuring Rodriguez, a #2 hit in the UK and one you can just about recreate yourself by randomly shouting "Ecuador" over and over, a classic tune though 961. The Knack – Serious FunI'm a huge fan of The Knack and whilst their output in the 90's was a bit grim they did have one or two gems hidden on their albums, first was Serious Fun from the album of the same name www.youtube.com/watch?v=3czh0ZNJiOE960. Whiskeytown – Everything I DoRyan Adams band from the 90's, my mate is the biggest Ryan Adams fan but had nobody to go see him with so I went with him and enjoyed the gig, he played a few Whiskeytown songs, we saw him again the year after and since then I've listened to most of his back catalogue www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqZtOV1mjtw

959. Ugly Kid Joe – Everything About YouUgly Kid Joe's first hit, reached #3 in 1992 958. Will Smith – Gettin' Jiggy Wit ItAnother #3 hit but this time in 1998, the first single off "Big Willie Style" 957. Pandora – One Of UsA song a few people might not have heard before now, it's by Anneli Magnusson a Swedish eurodance artist known by her stage name Pandora, as far as I'm aware none of her songs troubled the UK charts but this was a number 1 in Finland www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq0wnSfn6rE956. B*Witched – Jesse Hold OnOK, I know B*Witched ha, but they had some decent pop tunes, this one got to #4 in the UK 955. Vengaboys – Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!!With lyrics like boom, boom, boom, boom, I want you in my room, Let's spend the night together from now until forever, Of course this was a number 1 hit, what's worse is I remember he words 954. Roxette – Spending My TimeI get he feeling Haven isn't a huge fan of Roxette, they are one of my guilty pleasures, this is the first of 9 songs by them to make my chart so sorry in advance 953. Alisha's Attic – I Am, I FeelWhat happened to Alisha's Attic? surprisingly they had 4 higher charting singles than this, but this is the only one to make my top 1000 952. Northern Uproar – Livin' It UpIndie Rock band from the Manchester area, probably lumped into the Britpop genre, "From A Window" was their biggest hit but I prefer follow up single "Livin' It Up", peaked at #24 in 1996 www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMIu3g3s5A0951. Sham Rock – Tell Me MaNorthern Irish folk pop group, the definition of a one hit wonder, The single remained in the UK Singles Chart for eleven weeks, peaking at number 13, It sold over 200,000 copies and still gets played in terrible pubs/clubs 950. Levellers – One WayFirst Levellers song to enter my chart, criminally underrated song www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0S8RNkL5Wg

omg Daz I find it hard to comment on any list that has 'Tell Me Ma' on it To be fair i was 7 when the 90's started and by the time I was old enough to buy music it was 1997. The early part of the 90s were a bit grim I have to say so I had to pad it out at the bottom with the odd pop song. I have been accused of being a music snob on more than one occasion so here we are. My guilty pleasures. I spent most the mid to late 2000's going to awful clubs that play Tell Me Ma (every week). And my mate has this Irish dance he does, he must be 6 stone overweight, when your drunk it is hilarious, he has another one where he punches the floor to chumbawumba. I have heard these songs so much over my life I think my brains fried. You will be glad to know I missed off Smurfs Go Pop

I was tempted to just make a top 750 but I thought I might as well have a bit of fun with it. There's more pop fans than indie fans on here so something for everyone. You will like my top 750. I promise ha

949. Take That – How Deep Is Your LoveOne of a few boybands in the 90's that made some decent music, granted it is Bee Gees cover but they still did a decent job of it and it reached number 1 948. Underworld – Born Slippy (Nuxx)The ".NUXX" mix was released as its own proper single in the wake of the 1996 Danny Boyle film Trainspotting, where it could be heard in the final scene. The movie stoked immense public interest in the previously little-known track, helping the single peak at Number 2 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1996. The track became known as simply "Born Slippy" by the general public, despite the fact that "Born Slippy" is the title of the completely different 1995 track. 947. Sneaker Pimps – Six UndergroundHartlepool's finest (only) band? they released Six Underground in 1996 reaching #15 in the charts, a re-released version a year later got to #9, they had a few other singles "Spin Spin Sugar" and "Post Modern Sleaze" but this was the best of the bunch www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eBZqmL8ehg946. Charlotte Nilsson – Take Me To Your HeavenFans of Eurovision might remember her, she won in 1999 for Sweden with this song, can't get much more ABBA without being ABBA www.youtube.com/watch?v=am2kMxFLngU945. SNAP! – The PowerPopular German Europop band probably more well known for "Rhythm Is a Dancer" but this was their first single and a #1 in the UK 944. Travis – Tied To The 90'sFirst of several songs by Travis to appear in my countdown 943. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Impression That I GetBiggest hit for 90's Ska band from Boston 942. Third Eye Blind – Semi-Charmed LifeAn American alternative rock band. Formed in San Francisco in 1993, their biggest hit came in 1997 with "Semi-Charmed Life" www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyjTrwOMSO4941. Bloodhound Gang – I Wish I Was Queer So I Could Get ChicksBack when The Bloodhound Gang were funny and made decent music, seems like so long ago, this is from their 2nd album "One Fierce Beer Coaster" but didn't chart 940. Rozalla – Everybody's FreeThe only Zambian dance music performer to make my chart, best known for her 1991 hit "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" #6

939. Fountains Of Wayne – Denise1999 single reached #57 in the UK, best known for their hit Stacy's Mom, i'm a huge fan of bassist Adam Schlesinger who was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award in 1997 for writing the title track of the Tom Hanks-directed film That Thing You Do! Schlesinger then received two Tony nominations in 2008 Best Musical and Best Original Score for the musical Cry-Baby and a 2013 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Song for his "Elmo The Musical" theme for Sesame Street. He and Molly Boylan received a 2011 Daytime Emmy nomination for the song "I Wonder" from Sesame Street. In addition to writing and co-producing the title song to That Thing You Do!, he composed "Master Of The Seas" for Ice Age: Continental Drift performed by Jennifer Lopez, Peter Dinklage and others. His music has also been featured in films such as Shallow Hal, Robots, There's Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Josie and the Pussycats, Scary Movie, Fever Pitch and The Manchurian Candidate 938. Elliott Smith - Ballad of Big NothingSmith suffered from depression, alcoholism, and drug dependence, and these topics often appear in his lyrics. In 2003, aged 34, he died in Los Angeles, California from two stab wounds to the chest, his music didn't trouble the chart, this song peaking at #182 www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU9yMN1MCfY937. Lolly – Viva LA RadioFirst off an apology, second, what a pop song, I had this as my ringtone for a few year and I was 27 ha, this was her debut single and it reached #7 in the UK www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CX4sYylS9Q936. Shania Twain – That Don't Impress Me MuchNot a fan of "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!", that misses my chart but previous single "That Don't Impress Me Much" makes it, both reached #3 n the UK 935. The Dandy Warhols – Nothin' To DoThe 3rd single from The Dandy Warhols debut album www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll2nlxxuVsE934. Massive Attack – Unfinished SympathyTheir fist hit and first of two songs by them to make my top 1000 933. Morrissey – The More You Ignore Me The Closer I GetI loved late 80's Smiths/Morrissey and early 00's Morrissey, his 90's output was pretty dire, this is his only song I like from this decade www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nAMFWDuDEI932. Sonique – It Feels so Good#1 in 1998, quality tune, maybe should be a little higher in my chart but adds a bit of quality to the lower end www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVzvdCKuu4w931. Supergrass – Pumping On Your StereoMy least favorite Supergrass song from the 90's, a lot of indie fans would probably have this song higher but for some reason I don't feel it, seems to fit in better down here with the comedy/europop acts 930. Def Leppard – Heaven IsThe second Def Leppard song to make my list www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATdJlkCOIYk

929. T-Spoon – Sex On The BeachThe last group of 10 for today starts with Dutch Eurodance group T-Spoon with their 1997 1 hit wonder "Sex On The Beach" 928. Green Day – Geek Stink BreathThe first Green Day track to make my chart is a 1995 single from Insomniac, they will feature quite heavily towards the top end www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr2T-Rcgq1c927. Mercury Rev – Opus 40I was quite into Mercury Rev in the late 90's, so expect Goddess on a Hiway to feature somewhere near the top end 926. Skunk Anansie – HedonismA song on just about every 90's Indie compilation album, not my favorite single from them but good solid indie rock song 925. Pearl Jam – ImmortalityPearl Jam at their best are hard to better, Immortality didn't chart in the UK but the album its on "Vitalogy" did reach #4, I haven't counted but they will probably be one of the most heavily featured bands on my list www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbJm1OcII-g924. Styx – Not Dead YetA rock critic once compared one of Styx earlier album to "a parking lot full of whale vomit." The critics just didn't get them, although by the 90's they had pretty much become irrelevant. 923. Nada Surf – Tree HouseFrom High/Low, Nada Surf's first full-length album. The album is best known for its single "Popular." www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKmKIWAeBDY922. Nirvana – DiveI grew up listening to Nirvana and still like them today, Dive from "Incesticide" will be the first of many songs from them to appear www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SnvejVyL2s921. Suede - ElectricityThe first Suede song to make my list, the first single from 1999's Headmusic, peaking at #5 920. Pandora – Trust MeThe second entry for Anneli Magnusson a Swedish eurodance artist known by her stage name Pandora www.youtube.com/watch?v=j19Pv0uEb9I

919. Less Than Jake – History Of A Boring TownAnother Ska band, whilst i'm not the biggest fan of the genre when its done right its hard to dislike 918. Fatboy Slim – The Rockafeller SkankThe lowest entry for Norman Cook in my chart, reached #6 in 1998 917. Def Leppard – Have You Ever Needed Someone So BadThird entry for Def Leppard, more of a ballad than their usual stuff, reached #16 in 1992 916. The Candyskins – Monday MorningHighest charting single from Oxfords finest Britpop band, peaked at #34, pretty underrated band considering their music spanned the whole of the 90's www.youtube.com/watch?v=A745jPbRI6E915. Dido – Here with MeHer only single to be released in the 90's, reached #4 in the UK, No Angel and Life For Rent were bother great albums so expect her to appear in my 00's list in the future 914. Guns N' Roses – Knockin' On Heaven's DoorThere aren't many more iconic rock bands from the 90's than Guns N' Roses, their Bob Dylan cover is the first of their songs to make it here 913. Soul Asylum – Runaway Train90's American rockers Soul Asylum never really broke the UK but the one song that did make an impact was "Runaway Train", their biggest hit but not my personal favorite www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRtvqT_wMeY912. Oasis – Rock ‘n’ Roll StarThe Britpop hits are starting to filter into my chart and you can't get much more Britpop than Oasis 911. The Dandy Warhols – Every Day Should Be A HolidayOne of the first albums I purchased was Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia in 2000 so I am a fan of their older material, this was the first single from their previous album www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TVhgD2yAuw910. Dave Matthews Band – Too MuchAnother band that never broke the UK, with only one charting song in 2001 (The Space Between), Too Much was the first single from 1996 album Crash www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFaWtctp7Oo

909. Aqua – Lollipop (Candyman)Just when I chart 10 credible acts in a row I'm back with Aqua to my shame I own their first two albums, their debut album is europop genius www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5JTdayfCT4908. Eels – Hospital FoodMark Oliver Everett is a genius, he has saved more lives than the Samaritans, his lyrics are deep and resonate with young people who are having a hard time, This was an album track from 1998's Electro-Shock Blues, an album written after his sister's suicide and his mother's diagnosis with terminal lung cancer 907. Rammstein – TierOr Animal if you want the English translation is an album track from "Sehnsucht" www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxGz8yN03Lo906. Pearl Jam – DissidentThe 2nd Pearl Jam song to make my list was the 4th single to be released from Vs, it reached #14 in the UK, making it the 3rd highest charting Pearl Jam single here 905. Nirvana – Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On SeattleHow fitting to have Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain side by side in my chart, both bringing the Seattle grunge to the mainstream in the early 90's with a song about an American actress and television host. She is perhaps better known for sensationalized accounts of her life, especially her involuntary commitment to a mental hospital 904. Ash – Angel InterceptorSaw them live last year and they still put on a great show, their new album is pretty decent aswel, not bad considering this song was released 20 year ago and they are still going strong 903. Paul Weller – The ChangingmanNever really got into the Jam or Wellers solo stuff, a lot of people probably have this down as a 90's classic but it never quite clicked with me, still better than 90% of the stuff released in the 90's 902. Corona – Baby BabyThe Europop entries are starting to slow down now but this Brazilian-Italian eurodance group had a number of top songs which have infiltrated my chart 901. Northern Uproar – Anyway You LookThe second entry and last top 40 hit for Madchesters Northern Uproar www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsGWc5-htbo900. Hurricane #1 – Step Into My WorldAnother mostly forgotten Britpop band rounding off my first 100 songs, still touring and doing the festival circuit today www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jPZgLszqRY

R.E.M. – Near Wild HeavenNear Wild Heaven was both co-written and sung by bassist Mike Mills. Out of Time was one of the first albums I ever bought, as a 12 year old in the mid 90's I got some queer looks when I was buying REM albums 890. Sparks – When Do I get to Sing "My Way"Everyone has to love Sparks, their collaboration with Franz Ferdinand is my favorite album of the year so far, they never released much in the 90's but this is my favorite from what they did release www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8dqCQ2MHfQ

Didn't know The Knack went on for so long.
Mary Lou Lord and Sneaker Pimps are the only standouts so far. Kelli wasn't from Hartlepool, tho, she was a Brummie babe.
