Even as a big Murray fan think i'd be disappointed with that.
Have thought all along that 3rd is up for grabs, don't seem to be obvious contenders, but if Tyson Fury misses out I might be quite pleased depending on who beats him to get it.

From what I've seen, any "personality" Fury may have is extremely unpleasant, so I hope he gets no more than about four votes.

Greg Rutherford has confirmed he asked to be removed from the shortlist but was persuaded to change his mind by the BBC.

It is titled "Personality" but I tend to go with what I think is the best Sports Performance so I'll still be voting for Fury.

So you'll be voting for a Christian anti-abortionist sexist, who believes homosexuality is as immoral as paedophilia. Nice. To be fair the only time I complained to the BBC, was the failed 2011 campaign to get Ryan Giggs stripped of his Sports Personality of The Year Award of 2009, due to the revelations for his off field family indiscretions that took place through this period but were not revealed at the time due to "CTB allegedly" having a long-term affair with and impregnating his brother Rhodri's wife, Natasha Giggs in 2009, because if you can strip Lance Armstrong of 7 Tour De France yellow jerseys, then the BBC should certainly have stripped the Manchester United legend and Welsh International sicknote and passed that award on to the 2009 Runner Up who just so happens to be an all round top bloke Jenson Button. Anyway, I think it is outrageous the Worlds Number 1 ranked Batsmen, who this year set the highest number of runs scored in England internationals in a calendar year at an average of over 73, Cricketer Joe Root is omitted from the shortlist.

Pretty poor shortlist and from seeing the last 10 minutes a very rushed finale which overran (as I tuned in for Apprentice).

Andy Murray becomes the 4th person to win the main award twice, following Henry Cooper, Nigel Mansell, and Damon Hill. He ties with Mansell for best overall performance (based on top 3 finishes) with 2 wins and a 3rd.
Kevin Sinfield becomes the first rugby league player to finish in the top 3.
Jessica Ennis-Hill becomes the first person to finish 3rd on 3 occasions, and the first person to manage 4 top 3 finishes without winning.

Surprised Kevin did so well, but thoroughly deserved - he's been an amazing ambassador for Rugby League. Happy with Andy winning - hopefully he can bag a grand slam or two in 2016.
Do we think the negative press around athletics hit the chances of Jess and Mo this year?

And I thought this was one of the better SPOTY's in recent years. Having it in Belfast seemed to have generated some real local interest, and the atmosphere in the crowd came across on tv.

Pretty poor shortlist and from seeing the last 10 minutes a very rushed finale which overran (as I tuned in for Apprentice). You can blame Michael O'Neill's acceptance speech for Coach of the Year for that. I didn't have a problem with how much he said personally, but as someone said to me he rather oversold his part (speeches for that award don't tend to last that long). Gary Lineker at one point looked like he wanted him to wrap it up. That said, speeches do have a habit of overrunning, which presumably is the reason the show started before 7pm.
Shocked that JEH only came 3rd and not far ahead of Tyson Fury From that point I hoped that Murray would win, great acceptance speech from him, even showed some humour that some of us know is there! Didn't find the show that interesting tbh, which worked out well as it enabled me to catch up with it before it finished after getting back from the football. Listened to the first half an hour of the 5 live coverage, which was pretty good, especially John Inverdale's story about watching the 100m in the pub.
