I see the commentaries with the songs have gone. I did actually chart "It's My Life" by Talk Talk in 1990 when it peaked at #3 in my chart. Yes, in a bit of a rush this morning, had to go into work unexpectedly, will go back and update later!

"Like A Virgin" is my favourite single of 1984. How high she could be with my additional 120 points for 6 weeks at # 1 ?
No Doubt' cover version of "It's My Life", peaked at # 1 in my chart. Like A Virgin would have made 30th place with your additional points. An extra 20 points per week during December would have given Madonna the top spot and denied Band Aid a number one debut!

How much points got "Holding Out For A Hero" (Bonnie Tyler) ? Mariah's cover version of "Against All Odds" (together with Westlife) was # 1 in my chart.

How much points got "Holding Out For A Hero" (Bonnie Tyler) ? Mariah's cover version of "Against All Odds" (together with Westlife) was my Christmas # 1. Only 57 points for HOFAH in 1984. I'd imagine it will get considerably more in 1985 upon its re-release as Total Eclipse of The Heart was a 1983 number one for Bonnie.

36) Wham! - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go (623 points)
Retro Chart Run: 4-2-2-4-4-12-30 (7 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 1 The first of three Number two singles for Wham! on this year's Retro Chart. This went Top 3 on a massive six charts, peaking at number one on Christie, Earl and rubcale's charts, but this was countered somewhat with nothing from Andy, Shireb and Thorney. It didn't hang around that long on a lot of these charts so came and went quite quickly. Top job Kingpin, please fit the excellent info in when you are able to. Songs do tend to stick in my chart for a fair bit when I like them.

35) Pointer Sisters - Automatic (640 points)
Retro Chart Run: 23-11-6-3-3-4-5-11-32 (9 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 2 The first of three number one singles by The Pointer Sisters to reach number one on Christie's chart this year. Automatic was also a three week number one for rubcale, as well as hitting second place in mine and raliverpool's chart. Only Andy was immune to the charms of the Pointer Sisters this year, not awarding them any points! Andy 0 points Mark 3 points Peak: 18 1 Week Shireblogger 14 points Peak: 13 3 Weeks Thorney 32 points Peak: 11 4 Weeks Smokeyb 54 points Peak: 9 6 Weeks Earl Purple 74 points Peak: 5 7 Weeks Raliverpool 81 points Peak: 2 5 Weeks Kingpin 90 points Peak: 2 7 Weeks Rubcale 124 points Peak: 1 9 Weeks Cool Christie 168 points Peak: 1 11 Weeks TOTAL 640 points

Retro Chart Run: 25-10-9-9-12-11-20-24-25-30-33 (11 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 6 The second and final entry from Madonna on this countdown. My biggest song at half year and at 22 weeks this is the longest a record has charted this year. Also a huge hit on Mark's chart, hitting number one for a single week, but charting for 15 weeks. Cool Christie 0 points Earl Purple 0 points Rubcale 0 points Andy 10 points Peak: 18 4 Weeks Raliverpool 26 points Peak: 11 4 Weeks Thorney 30 points Peak: 10 4 Weeks Mad Murray 33 points Peak: 5 Smokeyb 38 points Peak: 10 5 Weeks Shireblogger 116 points Peak: 2 7 Weeks Mark 179 points Peak: 1 15 Weeks Kingpin 209 points Peak: 1 22 Weeks TOTAL 641 points

33) Duran Duran - The Wild Boys (641 points)
Retro Chart Run: 4-1-1-2-3-19 (6 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 2 The first of two entries on this countdown from the Retro Chart's biggest act over the last couple of years. This was a two week chart topper in November, and hit number one across four charts: mine, Earl's, Mark's and raliverpool's. It picked up points from every chart other than Christie's. It's relatively low position on this countdown reflects the fact that it faded quite quickly and only charted for six weeks. Cool Christie 0 points Shireblogger 12 points Peak: 13 3 Weeks Rubcale 32 points Peak: 11 5 Weeks Andy 48 points Peak: 10 7 Weeks Thorney 68 points Peak: 4 6 Weeks Smokeyb 78 points Peak: 2 5 Weeks Mark 92 points Peak: 1 6 Weeks Raliverpool 98 points Peak: 1 6 Weeks Kingpin 106 points Peak: 1 6 Weeks Earl Purple 107 points Peak: 1 7 Weeks TOTAL 641 points

32) Kane Gang - Closest Thing To Heaven (644 points)
Retro Chart Run: 27-16-10-4-2-2-4-8-25 (9 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 12 A fortnight at number two on the Retro Chart, Closest Thing To Heaven got stuck behind Laura Branigan back in July, but did a lot better than its run on the Official UK Chart. A chart topper for both Mark and rubcale, this hit every chart except Andy and Christie's. I'd never heard of the Kane Gang or this record before this year, this song was a real discovery for me. Andy 0 points Cool Christie 0 points Earl Purple 17 points Peak: 13 4 Weeks Thorney 30 points Peak: 13 6 Weeks Kingpin 63 points Peak: 6 6 Weeks Smokeyb 71 points Peak: 3 7 Weeks Shireblogger 85 points Peak: 3 10 Weeks Raliverpool 103 points Peak: 2 8 Weeks Rubcale 118 points Peak: 1 9 Weeks Mark 157 points Peak: 1 10 Weeks TOTAL 644 points

Retro Chart Run: 7-2-1-1-2-15-18-36 (8 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 4 This got to number one on the Retro Chart for 2 weeks in April, despite not hitting the top of a single individual chart. It came closest on Thorney's chart, reaching number two for three weeks and getting stuck behind Time After Time and You Take Me Up. It performed consistently well across the rest of the charts, achieving a Top Ten place in all of them except Christie's. Still no song that we all charted top 20 Here Comes The Rain Again, all the way back at number 99! Weirdly, we all charted it but only Shireblogger voted it a number one. For the rest of us it was pretty much at the lower end of the Top 20. New Moon On Monday didn't even make this countdown. We all gave it pretty average scores and it didn't stick around for long. There are 8 songs coming up that all we charted together.

It wasn't a mistake and it won't rechart in 1985 or 1991. #24 is as high as it's ever going to get in my chart.
