There were so many good singles in 1984 that if I did a top 100 of my favourites, even the song at #100 would easily make #1 of last year.

18) Nik Kershaw - The Riddle (744 points) Only Shireb didn't chart The Riddle. I bought this single back in 1984, to celebrate winning a place at university. Like quite a few tracks in this Top 100 (notably also those by the Thompson Twins), I still like the song, but there were 20 others I like even more around at the same time.

Retro Chart Run: 11-2-2-3-3-5-9-20-28-28-26-29-33 (13 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 11 Into the Top Ten songs of the year now and Human League's highest entry on the countdown. This reached number 2 on the Retro Chart for two weeks in May, getting stuck behind The Reflex. A massive score from Andy for one of his biggest songs of the year, this was number one for six weeks on his chart. This also reached number one on Mark, Shireb and Smokey's charts proving that although Human League weren't able to add to their list of number ones there's still plenty of love for them on the Retro Chart!
