Whitneyfan, do you like "All Kinds Of Everything" ? I don't mind it, but I much prefer her Christmas song.

37. Mistletoe And Wine - Cliff Richard Cliff's best and most famous Christmas song was the best selling song of 1988, but it actually dates back to 1976 when it was featured (with different lyrics) in the musical 'Scraps'.

36. Lonely This Christmas - Mud The Christmas number 1 in 1975, this Mud classic is sung in the style of Elvis and is obviously one of the Christmas standards now.

35. O Come O Come Emmanuel - Bette Midler My favourite version of this gorgoeus hymn, Bette's voice drips with emotion in each line.

34. Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer - Elmo & Patsy This fantastic novelty track was first released in 1979, although it has never charted in the UK. It is something of a cult classic in the US though.

33. Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley Elvis's 1957 version of this song is by far the most popular and best, but it was Shaky who took the song to #2 in 1982 as part of an EP.
Here he is singing it live:

32. Stop The Cavalry - Jona Lewie Although this is now one of the most popular Christmas songs ever, it was never actually intended to be one. The fact it mentions Christmas was enough for the Now That's What I Call Music brand to stick it on their first Christmas album in 1985 and it has become a staple of Christmas ever since. It was a #3 hit for Jona Lewie in December 1980, but probably would have given him a chart topper if John Lennon hadn't been murdered.

31. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (Somewhere Far Away) - Faryl Smith Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence was originally an instrumental by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the theme to the 1983 film of the same name. I love this vocal version by Britain's Got Talent star Faryl Smith so much that it ends up just outside my top 30.

30. A Spaceman Came Travelling - Chris De Burgh Originally released in 1975, this classic wasn't a UK hit until 1986 when it reached #40 in the chart following his #1 earlier that year with 'The Lady In Red'.

29. Postcard From London - Ray Davies & Chrissie Hynde A modern Christmas masterpiece in my eyes, which should have been massive when it was released in 2009.

28. Mele Kalikimaka - Bette Midler Written way back in 1949, the title is Hawaiian for 'Merry Christmas' and has been recorded by many artists which include Bing Crosby, KT Tunstall and The Beach Boys. Bette's is easily my favourite though, and the one which I play year after year.

27. Driving Home For Christmas - Chris Rea This is now as much a part of Christmas as tinsel and turkey, yet back when it was released in 1988 it stalled at #53 after being lost in the Christmas rush. It eventually reached the top 40 on downloads alone in 2007, at #33 - and this year it has already beaten that peak by 10 places and could give the song a top 20 placing for the first time ever.

26. The Blizzard - Camera Obscura Originally released in 1961 by Jim Reeves, Camera Obscura released a stunning version of the sad tale in 2009 and it straight away became one of my favourite seasonal songs ever.

24. The Prayer - Celine Dion & Andrea Boccelli First recorded in 1998 and featured on Celine's Christmas album - which is why it is included on this list.

23. Pipes Of Peace - Paul McCartney It's actually the video to Macca's 1983 classic that make it Christmassy, as it features the famous 1914 Christmas truce between English and German troops, which was also recently used on a Sainsbury's commercial. I think it's generally considered to be a Christmas song now anyway.

22. Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John & Yoko With The Plastic Ono Band Released in 1971, this has climbed as high as #2 in the UK charts and has also been a top 5 hits for the Pop Idol finalists in 2003.

21. White Christmas - Bing Crosby It wouldn't be a Christmas list without old Bing! First released in 1942, this is amazingly 75 years old this year and has already entered the UK top 40 again. Covered by just about everybody and his dog, Bing's version still remains the definitive and best. Here though I'm going to give you Boy George's reggaefied version from 2009.

I'll leave it there for now, but the song which is at #20 has nothing to do with Christmas whatsoever and I can't bring myself to take it out as I love it so much and it always makes me feel festive!

20. 2 Become 1 - The Spice Girls This song has no right whatsoever to be here but Christmas isn't Christmas for me unless I hear it a few times at least. It was the Christmas #1 of 1996, and it reminds me of a fantastic Christmas but other than that and the fact that I always thought the first line said "Candlelight and snow forever" until recently, I really have no excuses for it being here.
