One for o
Noticed the other day that Matt Green has joined Salford on a permanent deal. Feels like a big move for both parties..
One for Shireblogger
Josh Sims has gone back to Southampton. Think I was more impressed with him than some but it was hard to understand why he's so highly rated at Southampton. He definitely looked better coming off the bench when he could really use his pace. Will be interesting to see how he does though in future, if he goes on loan again this season and does well it will be telling...

Quirky stat of the day...
This is Brighton's sixth season in the top flight, but today was only the third time they have had a home fixture against the league leaders. Even last season when Man C were top virtually all season, Brighton played them at home in the teatime fixture in the first week of the season. Today was the first time they have lost a league fixture at home to the leaders.

Martin O'Neil going to Nottm. Forest, really? I thought they had more ambition than this. Surely this is a step backwards for the club.

It's a shambles there it seems, although it's not much better at County either. I wonder who the new Luton manager will be? Cheers Tom, I did see that about Matt Green and saw he'd scored a couple as well, I thought Salford had enough attacking options already, but good to see him playing well. Still think Orient will come up though (sadly)

I must admit, I'd expected him to shine more brightly at Reading. I'll keep an eye on his progress in the future.

So what does everyone think about the "spying" that Leeds have been doing on other teams at training sessions? Should they be fined, manager touchline ban, docked points? Surely it has always gone on to some extent, it's just been brought to the fore by what happened at Derby? If it's not illegal, but just immoral, then can the FL or the FA actually do anything?

If it was any club other than Leeds, I'd say - no problem, it's just part of the game. As it is Leeds, my view is that they should be deducted 80 points, and fined £100,000,000.

Yeah that seems to be the general consensus, which doesn't make it right?

It is illegal to be caught on private property with bolt cutters though after using them to trespass to spy

Considering it took the best part of our police force and army a week and they still didn't find a drone last month and nobody was charged I wouldn't hold my breath about them catching or charging someone watching a football team train in secret, not sure anyone got caught in the act, the bolt cutters might not have been used to cut the huge hole through the metal fence at teams training grounds if nobody saw them do it they cant be charged I guess
On the other hand Hupin's dad just got a letter from the home office threatening to deport him unless he pays £65 to stay in the UK lol, getting their priorities straight, threatening people who have worked and paid tax for 40 year, might help pay to put 3 more coppers on the beat up and down the uk

The head coach's anorak video in defense of "spying" on his opposition was a brilliant one:

Back to football

It was interesting to discover they'd spied on Reading, two things in particular. We actually played better than expected when we played Leeds in November and had them worried at the end, so how good was their spying? Also, how did they get into the training ground? Fans used to watch training, but that was the previous training ground (Sonning) which I think had a cricket clubhouse there so probably was more public. Don't think the current one is like that, so did they pretend to be someone important?! I'm sure I'll read more about it at some point anyway.

Oh dear what a nightmare start for Newcastle - Man City have scored after 25 seconds! And here's me hoping we might sneak a 1-0 win

Goodness - Newcastle have just taken the lead and are currently winning 2-1. And Man Utd are losing 2-0 at home to Burnley. So far it's not a good night for Manchester...
