I've said that for a long time! Police are apparently searching for Arsenal defenders as they've gone missing Daft thing is Willock had a glorious chance to get another back, and who knows what may have happened after that? It was free to air on channel 100 by the way...

I take it channel 100 is on Virgin Media? I did read that BT Sport had done a deal with Virgin to allow the game to be shown for free. The match tomorrow is also free to watch on Virgin. It will also be free to view on YouTube which means I'll be able to watch it on my smart TV although the picture quality isn't that great.

There’s a BT Sport app (linked to the YouTube channel) on EE. I assume it will disappear after the weekend.

Well done to Liverpool but that was a poor game and Liverpool looked off-kilter. The goalie was probably man of the match, he made some good saves which kept Liverpool ahead.

Typical Spurs, can't win anything, even if they are the better team.

The streaker showed more pace, ideas and invention than the other 22 people on the pitch...

Must be kinda weird to celebrate a win where you've been so meh, apart from an early pen, which was a gift from the ref or the player, depending on your viewpoint, and then a late goal to seal it. Semi finals obviously took it out of both teams Now those games will live on in the memory...

Semi finals obviously took it out of both teams Now those games will live on in the memory... I would say the three week break, and playing in 90 °F and 76% humidity (anything significantly over the human body's natural tolerance of 40% means you are not going to get close to seeing an end to end thriller) had more to do with it.
Plus, many thanks to Pochettino's tactical "masterclass" of picking a surprise four man defensive line up, and playing with 10.5 men all match (as Harry Kane was clearly not remotely match fit .... penny for SF hat-trick hero Lucas Moura thoughts when that team was announced) then giving away a clear penalty in the first 30 seconds which meant the onus was on Spurs to attack .... which they failed to do miserably largely thanks to their "Christmas Tree" formation and carrying their talisman England captain all match were the main factors in a poor quality match.
At this point I'd like to say on behalf of all Liverpool supporters a great big FU to Manchester United supporter Stephen Patrick Morrissey, your comments a couple of days ago with regards to the people of Merseyside; & Liverpool FC & those at suffered at Hillsborough 30 years ago were truly disgusting. I'm delighted to hear that HMV in Liverpool have removed all their stock of the former Smiths lead singer's solo output from their stores. You truly are a disgusting, detestable human being. (Still I suspect that Heavyweight Boxing title fight would have cheered him up, more's the pity).

There is another football match this Thursday when England play against the Netherlands. Yes, it's time for that Nations Cup thing that we qualified for. It will be played in Portugal and not even sure how much training the players have done for it.
For England playing in an international event there doesn't seem to have been that much build-up, I guess having 4 teams in European finals felt a lot more significant.
Let's see if Gareth Southgate picks Harry Kane to play.
On the CL final, my first thought was that it should be a penalty as his arm was outstretched but then looking at the clear intent of aiming the ball at the arm it looked very much a "won" penalty and difficult to see how he could have got his arm out of the way. I guess it's a new thing that you have to make sure your arm is out of the way, just as you have to make sure your legs are out of the way for when the opponent kicks the ball past and runs into them.
Harry Kane's lame effort of a dive didn't even get him a booking.
Spurs need a bit more creativity in turning possession into goals.

All this talk of humidity and players not being able to play in it, when more than half the team aren't even English, surely those from hotter climes are more used to that humidity, or do they never play games for their home countries. As well as a winter break, maybe they need a summer break as well, in case it gets too hot? diddums.

Netherlands 3 England 1
It's the semi-final of the UEFA NTions League
Defensively we were terrible and gifted the Dutch two goals in extra time. We now meet Switzerland on Sunday afternoon in a third place play off. I still feel this Nations Cup is a waste of time and it's just extra football matches at the end of the season that the players could do without.

In addition to the Women's World Cup and the Nations League Finals, 3 continents are hosting their championships this summer, including Africa, with the Cup of Nations switching from its usual January slot. COPA AMERICAAfter the last expanded edition, which featured both South American and CONCACAF teams, it's back to normal for this edition with a 12-team line-up consisting of the 10 CONMEBOL teams, plus 2 invitees. For the first time since invitations were handed out, Mexico aren't taking part, due to it clashing with the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Instead, the invites go to two Asian teams: Japan, who appear for the second time, and World Cup hosts Qatar. Chile are bidding for a third consecutive title, having beaten Argentina on penalties in the final in 2016. The tournament takes place in Brazil with the opening game on 14th June and the final on 7th July. GROUP A Brazil Bolivia Venezuela Peru GROUP B Argentina Colombia Paraguay Qatar GROUP C Uruguay Ecuador Japan Chile AFRICA CUP OF NATIONSTaking place in June for the first time after moving from January. It is also the first Cup of Nations to feature 24 teams. The tournament takes place in Egypt, having originally been scheduled for Cameroon. Cameroon are the defending champions. The expanded tournament sees three teams, Madagascar, Mauritania and Guinea-Bissau, making their debut. Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon and Zambia were among the teams who didn't qualify. The opening match is on 21st June, with the final on 19th July. GROUP A Egypt DR Congo Uganda Zimbabwe GROUP B Nigeria Guinea Madagascar Burundi GROUP C Senegal Algeria Kenya Tanzania GROUP D Morocco Ivory Coast South Africa Namibia GROUP E Tunisia Mali Mauritania Angola GROUP F Cameroon Ghana Benin Guinea-Bissau CONCACAF GOLD CUPAnother expanded competition with the number of teams increasing from 12 to 16. Qualification was based on the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League, though the final six from 2018 World Cup qualifying qualified automatically for this tournament. The USA are the hosts once again, though Costa Rica and Jamaica will stage some games. The USA are the defending champions after beating Jamaica in the 2017 final. They or Mexico have won all but one edition of the competition since it began in 1991 (Canada won in 2000). Bermuda and Guyana make their tournament debut. Martinique are one of the six CONCACAF members who play in its tournaments but not the World Cup as they aren't members of FIFA (the others being Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Saint-Martin, Sint Maarten and Bonaire). The tournament starts on 15th June, with the final on 7th July at the Chicago Bears' Soldier Field. GROUP A Mexico Canada Martinique Cuba GROUP B Costa Rica Haiti Nicaragua Bermuda GROUP C Honduras Jamaica El Salvador Curacao GROUP D USA Panama Trinidad & Tobago Guyana

I've thought for a long time that a 2 week break kills a team's momentum, so a 3 week break would be a problem, and I remember thinking how muggy it was for Reading's playoff final against Huddersfield a couple of years ago, which I think impacted on the quality of the game. That's one of the worst Reading games I've ever been to and must be one of the worst Championship playoff finals. Just as well it wasn't the first time I'd seen Reading at Wembley, it might have put me off otherwise..
