Or they could just open it to the teams with the most money, irrespective of performance. And call it the "Champions League".

Was able to watch the Reading game on a stream yesterday unexpectedly, 3 goals and winning the 2nd half for the first time in the league! Couldn't believe we won, smash and grab but appreciate it more having been able to watch, massive result for us, our first league win!
Shireblogger Sims came on and set up the winner Only on for 15 mins or so but had a really good impact, its still a mystery why he's not starting games.
Great 3-0 win for Maidenhead yesterday too The first half was considered to be possibly their best since they came into the National League. Maybe they can challenge for the playoffs after all...Also, the player who scored 2 of the goals I saw play for Walton Casuals in the FA Cup at Herne Bay last season. He won their penalty (that I missed being given whilst putting my drink in the bin). Don't remember anything he did (it was the match report that reminded me of the penalty) - if i'd known he was a Maidenhead player on loan there i'd have paid more attention!

Appreciating the updates on Sims, and pleased he seems to be doing well.

Josh Kelly has really come along this season - he's scored a few very good goals before last weekend, e.g.

My favourite football fact of the season so far...
A couple of weeks ago Accrington Stanley played Burton Albion in League One. The two teams also played each other 19 years ago, but back then it was in the Northern Premier League. For both encounters, 19 years apart, both clubs had the same managers - John Coleman & Nigel Clough.

Josh Kelly has really come along this season - he's scored a few very good goals before last weekend, e.g. I read an interview with him a few weeks ago and it was mentioned he scored 40 goals for Walton Casuals last season to help them win promotion (and that he'd watched Dave Tarpey who I noticed got a mention in one of the comments). That was what prompted me to wonder how he'd done against Herne Bay until it dawned on me that i'd probably seen him play! Thought then that if he can get enough games he's capable of getting double figures this season.

Football facts of the day.
61/92 football league clubs have managers who didn't play for them. Their average tenure is 1.3 years.
31/92 football league clubs have managers who did play for them. Their average tenure is 2.1 years.
19 of those 31 are in their first management jobs. 10 of the 31 were appointed before their 40th birthdays.
3 Premier League managers played for their clubs. I think 1 is obvious, 1 you will get with a bit of thought and football knowledge, and 1 surprised me.
Answers next time I log on if someone hasn't already named them.

Roy Hodgson was on the books at Crystal Palace but never actually played for them.

That's the correct list. Hodgson was the one I didn't know.

Yeah, got the first two but didn't get Hodgson. Interesting that the average tenure is longer if you're an ex player.
3-0 win for us yesterday, great result and huge 3 points Listened to the game on BBC Radio Berkshire and Shireblogger Sims got his first start and played the whole game. Didn't have a major impact on the result but he was praised by the commentators for his performance, his pace got a particular mention which is something that's stood out for me, and Nigel Gibbs our assistant manager in the post-match interview said he was a threat.

Sam won £84 on an accy yesterday, coming after he cashed out for 27 the other week and I always tell him betting doesn't pay!

Nice. I think these days with cash outs, odds boosts, enhanced places it's hard not to profit if you keep it sensible and stick to small bets about things you know and cash out when your winning but could lose easily still. It's always good to set yourself rules like never go above your maximum stake (be it £1 Or £10), only bet on league games/home teams/never bet on more than 3 teams in an acca or cash out on 70 minutes etc.
Skybet run an odds boost every week. 3 games at enhanced odds in a trebble. They have already put up 3 winners from 6 gameweeks boosted up to 11/1 7/1 and 8/1 so if you put a tenner on every week you'd have £260 minus the £60 you staked so you would be £200 up
Most betting sites have added a feature which I'm guessing they were made to by law! So you can go into your settings(it's usually hidden away) and see how much you have won/lost over the week/month/year. Because they don't want you to see your total losses. They just want you to remember the big wins

Last time he won, we got him to transfer it out into his savings, but it does make you always keep £10 in there. I think he only bets £1, and it used to be £1 a week, but I expect it has gone up to 2 or 3 separate bets now. I always tell him to cash out, because it's a profit, this time his mate told him to cash out at £17, as he needed a goal from Stoke? Which he did get for the full £84!

Thierry Henry was heavily linked with taking over before the season started
