I came across 60 Ft Dolls in my Retro 90s chart, their songs White Knuckle Ride and Pig Valentine have charted so far but I'm only in 1995, I know of Denim but couldn't tell you much other than they were an obscure Britpop area band but Jocasta is a new one to me that I've made a note of as I quite like their 1997 songs "Go" and "Change Me" although the latter has 1,520 plays on Spotify so your not wrong with the forgotten label ha

Apparently they did open for Pulp on their 1996 tour around the time of that albums release so were getting some attention

I had the Back In Denim album. Middle Of The Road was OK, but largely I thought it was terrible. I think I listened to it once.

Denim were actually one of the first bands to be called Brit Pop and 60ft Dolls were a big Steve Lamacq band, he still plays them on 6 Music. Jocasta yes have a couple of singles pretty average.

I’ve got the Back In Denim album as well. I haven’t heard it for years but it was a decent enough effort.

Apparently they did open for Pulp on their 1996 tour around the time of that albums release so were getting some attention I saw Denim live supporting Pulp in 1996. They weren't very good, and I didn't spend any money on any of their releases. Edwyn Collins was second on the bill - much better. It was in Sheffield, and therefore a triumphal homecoming for Pulp. Epic doesn't even begin to describe their performance of "Common People" that night. Euphoric might be better. I was almost hyperventilating at the end.

Auteurs were another band I had forgotten about until this thread. And Electrasy. I listened to “Showgirl” and it has dated really badly. A friend of mine worked on the “Morning Afterglow” video as part of her Uni project - I don’t recall 100% the whole story now as to what part she played in it, but I am sure she was one of the camera crew.

I don’t think I revisited any Luke Haines related music after until Blackbox Recorder. Wiki tells me New Wave sold a whole 12’000 copies.

The one after now that I'm a cowboy was decent as well got plenty of critical acclaim as well

Another act I loved in the 90s (though technically reformed, but they all do at some point) - Magnapop and also Madder Rose were excellent.
I’m sure there are some poppier acts that are also missed by me (like Bad Boys Inc or Ultra).

God, how soon people forget... Denim was Lawrence from Felt's project after Felt ran its course (10 albums, 20 singles). And The Auteurs was Luke Haines before Blackbox Recorder. Anyone remember Speedy? Breezy debut single but everything else bombed. 1990s version of The Honeycombs...

I've got another of the 12,000 copies of New Wave - a really good album.
Magnapop were good too. I saw them live once and it led to a great dilemma. Gene were the first band to play that night. I really liked them so was keen to see them again. However, the next act were a band I'd seen supporting Suede a few days earlier and they were terrible. So, do I get there early enough to see Gene or do I just turn up for Magnapop? I eventually chose the former and tried to hide when the other band were on!
How about New Fast Automatic Daffodils and Ned's Atomic Dustbin?
