Weird Al Yankovic--Here's Johnny
The song, a parody of El DeBarge's "Who's Johnny?", is all about the "Tonight Show" when it was hosted by Johnny Carson and mentions his sidekick Ed McMahon, who always introduced Johnny with the line "He-e-e-e-e-e-ere's Johnny!" Johnny and Ed left the show in 1992 and Johnny was replaced by Jay Leno, who has hosted it ever since, except for a short retirement in 2009 when he was replaced by Conan O'Brien, but when Jay hosted a five-nights-a-week primetime variety show that failed, Jay went back to the "Tonight Show." BTW, Johnny and Ed have since passed on…
(Of course you Brits might not know that!)

Paul Simon--Kodachrome
The Eastman Kodak Company has discontinued the manufacture of Kodachrome film due to the overwhelming popularity of digital photography. And towards the end there was only one place in the entire world that could develop Kodachrome--a photo lab in the US state of Kansas.

The Five Americans--Western Union Jerry Butler--Hey Western Union Man
Western Union discontinued telegrams in 2006; these days Western Union is a service you use to wire money to someone.
Travis Tritt--Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)
In the States, it costs more than 25¢ (a quarter) to use a pay phone, if you can find one!

If you used the US charts I think "Disco Duck" by Rick Dees would be the overall winner…

I do believe Ghana deserved to win today, although I was rooting like heck for the Americans…

I'm so happy that the USA broke through to advance to the next round of the World Cup, and if the Americans hadn't scored that goal, I would have to say that the Americans were robbed! GO USA!

Go USA! And Go England! Yep, both matches are being aired here, one on ESPN (the USA game) and the other on ESPN 2 (the England game). And since both matches are being aired without commercial interruption, I can't switch between one and the other, and since my heart's with the USA, I will be watching that game…

I just got back to see the ending of the USA-Slovenia game. Well, if England beats Algeria today and Slovenia next week, and if the USA defeats Algeria next week, the US will advance to the next round. Go England!

I have discovered that the USA's next match will be this Friday at 10 am Eastern (US) time, and I have to see an eye doctor at that time! Dang! Go USA!

Being a Yank, I have a soft spot for Chicago, but I'd rather see them go to Rio, since South America has never hosted the Olympics.

In both the UK and the US… Young Love--Tab Hunter (the hunk du jour of 1957, who was later revealed as being gay! ) And I prefer the Sonny James version!

Found these in the used-CD bin today at FYE (American record shop usually found in shopping malls)… Got both for $11.

I hated "Immaculate Collection" because it had a different version of "Like a Virgin" on it. On "The Immaculate Collection," the song ends before she sings the line "Can't you hear my heart beat for the very first time?" After all, on Weird Al's spoof "Like a Surgeon" he sings "I can hear your heart beat for the very last time" and that's why he sings that. Maybe this new Madonna GH collection will correct that.
And maybe they will put songs on it that were left off the other greatest hits albums.

The Fireballs' "Bottle of Wine" in 1968.
However, I got the Beatles' "She Loves You" for my seventh birthday in 1964, which was the first 45 I got for myself, but didn't pay for it.

The only show I watch on Wednesdays, and only if it's a new episode, is South Park!
(There's a new episode on tonight in the States!)
